Queen City plays tough, runs out of steam

By Adam Pettit
The Queen City Bulldogs were at home last Friday night to take on the Daingerfield Tigers.
Queen City continued its October tradition of celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness month with pregame ceremonies.
The Bulldogs entered the contest looking to rebound from a loss at New Diana the previous week while Daingerfield also looked to recover from a loss to Hooks.
QC played the Tigers tough in the first half and found themselves down only 21-17 at the break, but Daingerfield went on a 28-0 second half run to take the 49-17 victory.
Queen City received the opening kickoff and turned the ball over on a fumble on the second play from scrimmage.
Daingerfield took advantage of the turnover, marching down the field and scoring on a 21-yard pass. The PAT was unsuccessful, however, and the Tigers led 6-0 with nine minutes remaining in the opening quarter.

Rabbs’ ninth grade team tops Bears

The Atlanta freshman football squad moved their district record to 2-1 last Thursday night as they defeated the Gladewater Bears 28-16 at home. After being held out of the endzone on their first drive the Rabbit defense took the field and struck fast. On the first play from scrimmage, Thomas Steward blitzed through the middle and hit the fullback as he took the handoff, forcing a fumble that was recovered in the endzone by Gladewater making it 2-0.
Atlanta received the ball and Max Ebarb dropped back and hit Treyvon Powell on a 40-yard touchdown pass bringing the score to 8-0. The Rabbit defense pounced quickly again as Marques Banks intercepted a pass to the tight end and ran it all the way to the endzone for a 34-yard touchdown. Kade Wood caught the 2-point conversion pass from Max Ebarb making it 16-0 to end the first quarter.

Rabbs 8th grade battles Gladewater

The Atlanta Middle School eighth grade Rabbits made their presence known immediately on the football field last Thursday night in a close game against Gladewater.
The Rabbs emerged victorious, 38-36, when the dust had settled.
On the opening possession of the game, Daimion Collins hit Keyshawn Easter on a screen play and Easter took it 65-yards inside the five yard line. This set up a five-yard touchdown run by Collins on the next play. Kentrell Andrews added the two point conversion. Later in the first quarter, Caleb Hamilton took the handoff and ran it around the right end for a 35-yard touchdown to make it 16-8 Rabbs.
Later in the half, Hamilton would respond again with a 40-yard jolt for his second touchdown. In the second half Gladewater and Atlanta exchanged offensive blows, as Hamilton scored once again from 10 yards out and Easter added the two point conversion on a nice catch from Collins.
