Rabbs 8th grade battles Gladewater

The Atlanta Middle School eighth grade Rabbits made their presence known immediately on the football field last Thursday night in a close game against Gladewater.
The Rabbs emerged victorious, 38-36, when the dust had settled.
On the opening possession of the game, Daimion Collins hit Keyshawn Easter on a screen play and Easter took it 65-yards inside the five yard line. This set up a five-yard touchdown run by Collins on the next play. Kentrell Andrews added the two point conversion. Later in the first quarter, Caleb Hamilton took the handoff and ran it around the right end for a 35-yard touchdown to make it 16-8 Rabbs.
Later in the half, Hamilton would respond again with a 40-yard jolt for his second touchdown. In the second half Gladewater and Atlanta exchanged offensive blows, as Hamilton scored once again from 10 yards out and Easter added the two point conversion on a nice catch from Collins.
Gladewater answered again and tied the score at 30 apiece with a little over a minute left. Hamilton took the handoff around the left end on the very next play and ran it 75 yards to put the Rabbs up by six.
Tyler Federick ran in the two point conversion to make it 38-30. The excitement wasn’t over yet, however, as the Gladewater quarterback hit his receiver across the middle of the field for a big gain inside the Rabbs 20.
The quarterback called his own number on the following play and scored from 15 yards out to make it 38-36. The Rabbs squashed the two point conversion try in the backfield, after gang tackling the Bears’ quarterback.
The Rabbs took a knee, winning the game 38-36.
