Atlanta

On Jan. 31, the Lady Rabbits clipped rival Liberty-Eylau, 69-68, and claimed a playoff spot in the process.
Most of the contest Atlanta was in control as they took a, 31-23, halftime lead and extended that to, 53-41, after three quarters of play.
L-E made a ferocious attempt in the fourth quarter as they outscored Atlanta 27-16, but in the end the Lady Rabbs held on for a one-point victory.
Keyona Easter had a team-high 24 points, TeShuna Sheppard added 15 points with nine boards, Brittany Collins scored 14 points, Sheveonia Smith had eight and Kinsey Kelly five.

AHS Cheer showcases its SPIRIT

The Atlanta High School Cheerleaders competed in the Second Annual UIL SPIRIT State Championship on Jan. 11 and 12, at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The competition consisted of performing a game day cheer, a fight song routine and a band dance. Out of 70 plus schools in the 4A Division, the AHS Cheer Team advanced to finals.
The AHS team members are Abby Allen, Zoe Allen, Dani Arrendondo, Hailey Carpenter, Starr Davis, Natalie Foster, Hannah Highland, Madelynn Howard, Mallory McClure, Savannah Riddell, Rebecca Rinehart, Emmie Rushing, Alyssa Simmons, Kaylee Strawn, Jaiden Stroman, Amanda Whatley, Hannah Wicks and Cydnee Wood. 
The team is coached by Renee Rosser and Elaine Johnson.

Four AHS seniors ink college scholarships

National Signing Day is almost like a holiday for athletes, colleges and fans alike.
College programs and fans eagerly await to see if those verbal commits will follow through, and the athletes get to make a decision which will carry them through the next phase of their lives after high school.
On Feb. 1, four Atlanta athletes inked letters to continue their athletic careers at the next level.

At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, four Atlanta athletes signed their letters of intent to further their athletic careers. Tristan Allen (LA Tech), Desmond Robinson (SFA), Kelton Young (Midwestern State University) will go for football and Teshuna Sheppard (UCA) will go for track.
