Queen City Cross Country competes at District 14-3A Meet

The Queen City cross country program travelled to Daingerfield State Park on Wednesday, Oct. 19, for the District 14-3A competition.  
The varsity girls ran the first race of the day with Queen City only having two participants. 
Brooklyn Sykes finished in 14th place just missing qualifying for the regional meet by 30 seconds. 
Rylie Price finished in 25th place and both of these girls had one of their best races of the year. 
The varsity boys ran next, and the top two finishers for Queen City were Moses McCoy in 18th place and Logan Price in 19th place. 
The other varsity boys running for Queen City were Kyle Parker, Cody Campbell, Cole Price, Colton Henry and Travis Ream. Overall, the varsity boys finished in fifth place for the district.
The JV boys’ race had two Queen City participants, and both of the boys had their best race of the season.  
Josue Rea brought home the fourth place medal and Ian Lucas won the fifth place medal.
The junior high girls had an exciting race at the district meet.  Chloe Philippi won first place for the second consecutive year.  
She was followed closely by Annika Philippi in third place and Claire Bates in fourth place.  
Other team members for Morris Upchurch Middle School were Madison Davenport, Madison Parker and Gracie Weeks.  
When the final team scores were totaled, Queen City won the second place team trophy with a score of 55 losing only to Red Lick who had a score of 54.  
The evening ended with the junior high boys’ race and this was a great way to finish the night.  Kyle Campbell is the district champion by finishing in first place.  
His team was not far behind as Remington Gardner won second place, Joel Upchurch placed fifth and Lane Eudy won the ninth place medal.  
The other team member was Joshuah Fletcher. These boys are the District 14-3A champions with a score of 32, and Red Lick was the runner up with a score of 46.
The cross country teams were coached by Carrie Hudson.
