Elementary students raise funds for Sty. Jude's

From Staff Reports
LINDEN-- Kids are always looking for a chance to make a difference in the world. That’s why St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has created the St. Jude Math-A-Thon – a school-based math-enrichment program with a real-world purpose.
“Our students were excited about the MATH-A-THON fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Tiffany Hankins, with L-K Elementary. “They collected money for the less fortunate children that are fighting for their lives at St. Jude. This research hospital is absolutely free for families that have children with cancer. No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for their child’s treatments, travel, housing or food because of the donations from people like those of you here in Linden.”

By BOBBY HORN JR.

CASS COUNTY—Just when you thought the election season was done until November, there will be another round of elections in Cass County later this month.
Not all local and state races were decided in the March party primaries. In races where one candidate failed to get “50 percent plus one” of the votes, a runoff election was ordered between the two top vote-getters.

Constable Precinct 2
The local race drawing the most attention is for constable of Precinct 2.
In March, Anthony “Tony” Harrison picked up 511 votes. However, this accounted for just 45.95 percent of the vote, forcing the runoff. Incumbent Jerry Goodson received 321 votes to come in second-place. The remaining votes cast went to Ronnie S. Wilson.
