Elementary students raise funds for Sty. Jude's

From Staff Reports
LINDEN-- Kids are always looking for a chance to make a difference in the world. That’s why St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has created the St. Jude Math-A-Thon – a school-based math-enrichment program with a real-world purpose.
“Our students were excited about the MATH-A-THON fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” said Tiffany Hankins, with L-K Elementary. “They collected money for the less fortunate children that are fighting for their lives at St. Jude. This research hospital is absolutely free for families that have children with cancer. No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for their child’s treatments, travel, housing or food because of the donations from people like those of you here in Linden.”
Hankins said that more than $4,000 was collected by 52 of the students. As a reward for collecting $100 or more, the highest collector from each classroom was treated to a lunch at Uncle Juan’s Mexican Restaurant in Linden. The school treated 15 students to lunch.
“We would like to thank all of you, your children and families for helping the children of St. Jude,” Hankins added.
