On May 18, two local seniors were awarded scholarships from the CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta Auxiliary. This year’s recipients are Marshay Hatley from Atlanta High School and Kaitlin Golightly from Linden-Kildare High School.
More than 40 applications from Cass County high school seniors were received, and after review by the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee, these two students were declared the top choices.
The committee used a scoring system for each candidate that focused on grades, character, and intentions to pursue a degree in the medical field. Marshay Hatley plans to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and pursue a career as an Invasive Cardiologist.
Kaitlin Golightly plans to attend Texarkana College to become a registered nurse, and then continue her education at Texas A&M Texarkana to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards their first year of college education.
