Atlanta
Atlanta played a double-header on March 3 in Lufkin against Northside Christian from Conroe and Lufkin.
In the game against Northside Christian Atlanta took a, 3-1, lead into the fifth inning, but the Lions outscored the Rabbs 7-2 down the stretch to notch the, 8-5, win.
Andy Samples, Layton Henson and B.J. Hammonds were all 1-for-3 with the latter two players adding an RBI apiece.
Jose Arredondo, Nick Hale and Davis Flint all shared time on the hill.
In game two, Atlanta fell to Lufkin, 5-2.
Flint hit a 2-RBI single, Hale had a double and Arredondo added a single for the Rabbits.
Slayton Holland, Hammonds and Grant Harrell all had a turn on the mound.
Atlanta will compete in the Pittsburg Tournament beginning on Thursday, March 9, and continuing through the 11th.

Local Baseball and Softball

QC Baseball
Queen City’s baseball team took part in the Linden-Kildare Baseball Tournament last weekend.
In game one, the Bulldogs outlasted Waskom, 11-10.
QC was down, 10-9, in the sixth until Kyle Parker tied it with a single.
Rob Hill led Queen City by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-5 at the plate with a triple and three RBIs. 
Parker, Bradley Norton, and Hill each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs.
QC stole eight bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Ray Cook led the way with two.
In the second game, QC fell to Elysian Fields, 5-3, even though the Bulldogs out-hit the Yellowjackets 8-2.
Cook and Josue Rea each collected multiple hits for Queen City, and Parker and Hunter Fitts each drove in one run each.
Atlanta Baseball
On Feb. 24, the Atlanta baseball team traveled to Gladewater and left town with a, 5-2, hard-fought loss.

QC run-rules James Bowie, 16-0

On Feb. 16, the Lady Bulldogs’ softball team played a make-up game against James Bowie due to the rain at the beginning of the week.
The game was called after just five innings as the Lady Bulldogs went on to win, 16-0.
Senior Cori Lang pitched three innings and gave up only one hit while striking out six.
Freshman pitcher Kaci Thomas pitched two innings and scattered two hits while striking out four.
Jayley Stringer went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles, Brooklyn Sykes was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles, Kenadi Meador hit a 2-run homerun, Marlee Durmon went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Emily Maxwell was 2-for-3 with two ribeyes, Tiera Johnson was 2-for-3 with a ribbie and Maci Stringer was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

After closing out the regular season with a, 63-55, win over Paris on Feb. 7, the Lady Rabbits opened its playoff run with a, 56-52, bi-district win over Canton on Feb. 13.
Canton closed out the first quarter with a, 19-18, lead and the Lady Rabbs found themselves down, 36-31, at the break.
Atlanta closed the third quarter down, 47-43, and used a 13-5 run in the fourth quarter to bounce the Lady Eagles out of the playoffs.
Keyona Easter posted 24 points with seven rebounds and four steals; Kaydee Kelly added 14 points with four treys; Sheveonia Smith posted 13 points with four assists and four steals and Kinsey Kelly grabbed seven boards.
On Feb. 17, the Lady Rabbs paired with arguably the toughest team in East Texas when they met Tatum in the second round of the playoffs at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall.
