Bulldog Invite
Atlanta Iron won their second meet of the year after edging Hallsville by a single point in the Bulldog Invitational which was hosted by Carthage on Feb. 2.
Austin Brown finished first in the 148-pound weight class with a total of 890 pounds, Nick Cooper finished first in the 198-pound weight class with a total of 1,350 pounds and Tristan Allen finished first in the 242-pound weight class with a total of 1,150 pounds lifted.
Cooper squatted 515 pounds and dead lifted 535 pounds which were both the best lifts of any competitor in any weight class and his total lift was also the best across the board. Second place finishers were, Dalton Johnson – 815 pounds, Clayton Mosley - 1,070 pounds, Zee Barfoot – 1,190 pounds and Josh Wiley – 995 pounds. Barfoot also turned in the best bench press total of the meet at 305 pounds.
Third place finishers were, Jordan Prignit – 675 pounds, Nathan Johnson – 730 pounds, Jacob Nash – 955 pounds and Dustin Williams – 1,090. Jacoby Rogers placed fourth with a total of 975 pounds.
Fifth place finishers were, Thomas Steward – 640 pounds, Thomas Scott – 705 pounds, Reggie Blaylock – 1,035 pounds, Fransisco Martinez – 925 pounds and Jacob Humphrey – 720 pounds. Sixth place finishers were, Bret Piazza – 630 pounds, Cade Fant – 900 pounds and Jared Cowgill – 905 pounds. Jack Henderson placed seventh in his respective weight class with a total of 900 pounds and Garon Dupree placed eighth with a total of 720 pounds. Atlanta turned in a fine performance with 78 total lifters present and will host the Atlanta Iron Meet on Thursday, Feb. 16.

On Feb. 16, Atlanta Iron hosted its own meet with Carthage, Linden-Kildare, Hallsville and Waskom attending.
Atlanta ended the night with its third consecutive title as they rolled up 56 points, Carthage was second with 41, Waskom third with 39, Hallsville fourth with 35 and L-K fifth with four points.
For Atlanta Jordan Prignit placed first in the 123-pound weight class with a total of 670 pounds, Dalton Johnson placed second in his weight class with a total of 820 pounds, Austin Brown placed first in his weight class with a total of 945 pounds, Clayton Mosley placed second in his weight division with a total of 1,080 pounds, Nick Cooper placed first in the 198-pound weight class with a total of 1,400 pounds and was named the Most Outstanding Lifter of the entire meet, Zee Barfoot placed second in the same class with a total of 1,190 pounds, Reggie Blaylock placed third in the same class with a total of 1,065 pounds, Jared Cowgill placed third in the 220-pound weight class with a total of 1,000 pounds, Tristan Allen placed first in his class with a total of 1,200 pounds and Dustin Williams placed second in the Super Heavy Weights division with a total of 1,120 pounds.
Head Coach Craig Fant had this to say about the meet and his team.
“We appreciate everyone that helped run off a great meet. There were 70 lifters piled up in our weight room,” Fant said. “It was very competitive and lots of fun. I am proud of how hard our kids have worked and improved.”
