Atlanta Iron claims first place in the Hallsville Powerlifting Invitational

Atlanta Iron got into the swing of things quickly as they racked up 53 points en route to a first place finish in the Hallsville Powerlifting Invitational on Jan. 19.
Waskom finished second with 50 points, host Hallsville was third with 33, Carthage was fourth with 25 and Gladewater was fifth with 14.
In the 123-pound weight class Jordan Prignit placed second with a total of 645 pounds.
In the 132-pound weight class Dalton Johnson placed second with 765 total pounds, Nathan Johnson placed fourth with a total of 695, Thomas Steward placed seventh with 620 and Bret Piazza placed eighth with a total of 590.
Austin Brown won first place in the 148-pound weight class lifting a total of 820 pounds, and teammate Thomas Scott placed third with a total of 675 pounds.
In the 165-pound weight class Clayton Mosley claimed second place with 1,040 pounds total while Jacob Nash took third with 935 total pounds.
Nick Cooper finished first in the 198-pound weight class with 1,295 total pounds, Zee Barfoot placed second with a total of 1,155, Reggie Blaylock placed fourth with 1,020 and Jordan Alvarez finished seventh with a total of 910.
In the 220-pound weight class Fransisco Martinez placed fifth with a total of 950 pounds, Cade Fant placed eight with 885 pounds, Jack Henderson placed ninth with 875 pounds total, Jared Cowgill finished 10th with 860 and Garon Dupree placed 11th with 700 pounds.
Tristan Allen sealed first place in the 242-pound weight class after lifting a total of 1,140 pounds, Josh Wiley came in third lifting in the same weight class with a total of 955 and Jacob Humphrey placed sixth with a total of 650.
In the 275-pound weight class Phillip Azar placed sixth with a total of 825, and in the Super Heavy weight class Dustin Williams finished third lifting a total of 1,075.
The three highest totals for squats was Nick Cooper squatting 475 pounds, Zee Barfoot 430 and Reggie Blaylock 390.
The three highest totals for bench press were Cooper, Barfoot and Dustin Williams with 295 pounds each.
The three highest totals for dead lift was Cooper with 525 pounds, Tristan Allen 500 pounds and Barfoot with 430.
Atlanta Iron Head Coach Craig Fant had this to say after the event was over.
“We were excited with our results in Hallsville. This group is fired up about lifting and has been working very hard,” Fant said. “We hope to keep improving as the season moves on.”
The next meet for the Rabbit lifters will be on Thursday, Feb. 2, at Carthage.
