Lady Tigers Dominate Powerlifting Meet

LINDEN—The Linden-Kildare High’s Women’s Powerlifting squad dominated the Lone Oak Invitational Meet Jan. 30.
Not only did the squad place first in the meet, scoring more than twice as many points as the second place team Celeste with 47 overall points, but of the eight lifters who competed the school walked away with six first-place medals and one second-place medal. 
Competing in the 105# weight class was Ebony Castleberry. She recorded a squat of 235, bench press of 95 pounds and dead lift of 220 for a combined 550 pounds, earning first in the weight class.
Treasure Hines took first in the 114# class with lifts of 210, 115 and 195 for a 520 total.

New district realignments set for 2016-2017

Every two years the UIL realignment process can be an exciting for some fans, players and coaches or it can it can be a total nightmare. On Feb. 3, the UIL released the new district realignments for football and basketball for the next two years.

On Feb. 1, Bloomburg’s junior high Lady ’Cats played their final home game of the season. 
All of their hard work, commitment and discipline was all worth it as the Lady ’Cats dominated Union Hill, 40-21, from start to finish.

McLeod celebrated Homecoming last Friday night and all high school programs swept visiting Ore City right out of the building.
The varsity boys fell behind 12-8 after the first quarter but a 19-13 advantage in the second put the Longhorns ahead 27-25 at the break.

L-K vs. Atlanta
The Linden-Kildare Tigers traveled to Atlanta last Tuesday to take on the Rabbits. 
The Tigers gained an early edge in the first half by outscoring Atlanta by four points. 
L-K pushed the lead to 12 at the end of the third and eventually came out on top 66-56 to win the game.

The Linden-Kildare Tigers traveled to DeKalb on Nov. 20, to face the Bears on the hardwood. 
It was the first game of the season for both teams as the Tigers looked to get their basketball campaign off to a strong start. 
L-K would fall behind early, trailing by six points by the end of the first quarter and by 21 points at the half.

The All-District honors for the 2015 football season were recently released and the Linden-Kildare Tigers were well represented.

LYFL enjoys a very successful season Future looks bright for Tigers football

This year the Linden Youth Football League participated in the NFL’s 7-on-7 Football League through the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Pines.  
The Linden teams went head-to-head versus teams from Marshall and the surrounding areas and had quite a bit of success.

Several Atlanta Rabbits receive All-District honors

Atlanta was the last team to bow out of the playoffs from Division 6-4A and several members of the team were named to the All-District Team with five of those young men were named to the Academic All-State Team.
