Wildcat athletes perform well at district, area meets

Bloomburg’s varsity boys’ and girls’ track team practiced every morning at 7 a.m. for running/conditioning, and then again at 4:40 p.m. for skill/field work after ball practice was over. In each meet they competed in throughout against 3A and 4A schools and would still place. Most of the athletes have never participated in track before. 
Head Coach Lauren Foster started with the season with seven boys and seven girls and finished with the same group.
“No one quit on the team or themselves,” Foster said. “I was very proud of their commitment.”

QC, McLeod track members advance to regionals

Atlanta varsity boys crowned 15-4A district champions

Varsity Boys
Atlanta hosted the District 15-4A Track Meet on April 14, and the varsity boys’ team walked away with its second consecutive district title and 26th out of 29 district titles since 1988.

Cass County athletes compete at Bill Hines Relays

Linden-Kildare hosted the 20th annual Bill Hines Relays on April 7, at Jack Hetherington-Tiger Stadium, and a few members of Atlanta’s and McLeod’s track teams were present.
Atlanta sent a few athletes to L-K for the meet but a greater part of the team was preparing for the looming Pirate Relays which was hosted by Pine Tree High School on April 8.

Lady Rabbs keep pace for shared title with 5-4 win

Atlanta’s softball team is still on course to possibly finish this year with a co-district championship. North Lamar has proven to be one of the tougher foes for the Lady Rabbs since the district was formed.
With a 5-4 win on April 12, Atlanta is 2-0 against the Lady Panthers and still have a chance to share the crown if they can get past Pleasant Grove.

Queen City’s Ryan Fincher lifts his way to state

Last year Queen City sent a powerlifter to the state meet and the way the Bulldog program was racking up wins at different events this year under Coach Fred Thrower there very well could have been more involved this year.
Senior lifter Ryan Fincher was at the top of the list in every meet he attended and finished that up with a state appearance.

Atlanta Rabbit track program competes at Pirate Relays

Atlanta finished up their loaded track schedule on April 8, when they competed in the Pirate Relays at Pine Tree High School in Longview.
With the district meet set for this Thursday, April 14, at Atlanta Rabbit Stadium the Rabbs knew they had one more chance to shine before tossing in all the chips this week.

 Lady Bulldogs
On April 4, the Lady Bulldogs kept on pace for a solid playoff seeding by beating Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill 7-1.
Queen City scored six runs in three innings before Chapel Hill plated their only run of the game in the fourth.

Lady Rabbs’ golf wins 17th district title in 18 years

After just missing out on their 17th consecutive district title last year, Atlanta’s Lady Rabbs’ golf team got back on track by winning their 17th district championship in 18 years.
Going into the second round of the district challenge the Lady Rabbits were up by 20 strokes.

Tigers dash past Brahmas 11-1 in district action

Linden-Kildare moved their district record to 3-2 after an 11-1 victory over Paul Pewitt on April 2.
The Tigers scored single runs in the first three innings and three in the fourth which put them ahead 6-0. Pewitt scored their lone run in the sixth but the game was put on ice when the Tigers plated five runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning.
