Atlanta wrecks Van, 12-2, in area round

The phrase “revenge is a dish best served cold” came to mind a few minutes after the Atlanta Lady Rabbits dispatched Van, 12-2, in Class 4A area softball playoff action at Marshall’s Lady Mavericks Field.
In the area round last year fifth-ranked Van put Atlanta away handily in a one-game playoff.

AHS girls’ golf team finishes sixth at regionals

Fairways with standing water and fast greens presented a challenge for Atlanta’s varsity girls’ golf team who finished the season in sixth place at regionals. Weather conditions were mild and cloudy on the first day of the two-day tournament. Heavy rains overnight and into the early morning delayed the tournament until 11 a.m. with a shotgun start on the second day of the tournament.

Atlanta’s Ravon Justice named Prairie View A&M University’s new women’s basketball head coach

Prairie View A&M athletic director Ashley Robinson an­nounced that Ravon Justice was hired to be the next head coach of the Lady Panthers women’s basketball coach. 
She is the seventh head coach of the Lady Panthers since the start of the NCAA’s women’s basketball era in 1981.
Justice arrives at “The Hill” after seven seasons with the Uni­versity of Houston women’s basketball team.

QC students ‘lasso’ rodeo scholarships

On April 15, two Queen City seniors signed rodeo scholarship papers to attend Dodge City Community College in Dodge City, Kan.
R.D. Kilgore and Dylan Campbell decided to ink their letters so they can continue their education.

Kilgore is in his last semester at Queen City High School. He is very active on campus with involvements in many activities. Read more in our e-edition:

Queen City band programs take home top honors

On March 19, the Queen City Varsity Winter Guard traveled to Marcus High School in Flower Mound to perform its show titled ‘Shine’ in the North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) Region A Championships. 
Under the direction of Elizabeth Lawson, these Guard members spent countless hours practicing, competed in several other competitions leading up to the Championship competition.

Atlanta baseball runs through district gauntlet

On April 5, Atlanta faced Pittsburg on the road and came home with a 6-0 loss to the Pirates.
Nick Hale had a couple of hits for the Rabbits and both Jose Arredondo and Raegan Aslin added a hit apiece.
