HARDY WILLIAMS

Feb. 16, 1921 - Sept. 18, 2013
Hardy Williams, 92, of Huffines, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Feb, 16, 1921, in Huffines to Richard Floyd Williams and Ada McDuff Williams. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Lone Star Steel, where he worked for over 25 years. He was a member of the Huffines Cemetery Association and loved to garden, fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Floyd Williams and Ada McDuff Williams; a daughter, Lynn Akers; and two sons, Joe Williams and Wayne Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Flo Williams of Huffines; three sons, Buddy Williams and wife Nancy of Atlanta, David Williams of Huffines and Jeff Williams and wife Julie of Spring Hill, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation ws from 6 to 8 p. m., Friday, Sept. 20, at Hanner Funeral Service.

NORA OWENS

June 11, 1938 - Sept. 14, 2013
Nora Lee Owens, 75, of Linden, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at a nursing center in Linden. She was born June 11, 1938, in Atlanta to James and Eunice Wilcox.
She was retired from the Cass County District Clerk’s office and Cass County Health Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Owens and a stepson, Jerry Owens.
Survivors include two sons, Kerry Gholson and James Gholson; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandy and Wayne Glover and Mona Anzualda; a stepson John Owens and wife Chelsea; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Ann and Larry Ferrell and Judy and Loy Dale Grubbs; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Wilcox and James Wilcox; three sisters, Dorothy Armstreet, Eunice Perry and Inez Hillman; and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved her.

FELICIA TAYLOR RUSHING

Oct. 28, 1937 - Sept. 13, 2013
Felicia Taylor Rushing, 75, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, in a local hospital, surrounded by family.
She was born Oct. 28, 1937, in Smithland to M. D. and Albina Mazac Taylor. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years; serving 30 of those years at the Linden Municipal Hospital.  She was a member of Lifehouse Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sam Rushing of Atlanta; three sons, Stephen Rushing and wife Cindy of Texarkana, Andy Rushing of Atlanta and Perry Rushing and wife Karen of Atlanta; one brother, Donald Taylor of Jefferson; two sisters, Mary Ansley of Jefferson and Dixie Calvin of Bristow, Okla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Hanner Funeral Service.

WAYNE PITTS

Nov. 2, 1945 - Sept. 11. 2013
Wayne Pitts, 67, of Linden, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in a Longview hospital. He was born Nov. 12, 1945, in Blossom to A. E. and Molie Cowser Pitts. Soon afterwards, the family moved to Atlanta where he graduated from Atlanta High School. After marriage, he made his home in Linden.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #192 of Linden and First Baptist Church of Linden. He spent several years as an independent painting contractor. He also served 20 years as an Executive Director of the Linden Housing Authority. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Patricia Mann, 54, of Avinger, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in a Longview hospital.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Reeder-Davis Fellowship Hall.

Eve Joslin, 58, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in a local hospital, surrounded by family.

She was born May 15, 1955, in Atlanta, to Dr. Blocker and Edna Blakey Joslin. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved passing the time listening to the radio and could memorize all the lyrics to the songs she heard. She also loved horses, swimming, diving and riding motorcycles in her youth.

Her parents and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Morris Holland and Mrs. Lerina Derryberry preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, James Joslin and wife Kelly of Atlanta; one nephew, J. Joslin of Atlanta; caregivers, Brenda Sprayberry and LaJoyce Jones: and a host of friends.

WILLIAM E. SMITH, Sr.

Nov. 25, 1934 - Sept 1, 2013
William E. Smith, Sr., 78, of Lady Lake, Fla., passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at a hospice facility in Lady Lake.
He was born and raised in Pennsylvania, but lived several of his retirement years in Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Smith of Lady Lake, Fla.; one son, William Smith, Jr. and wife Tracey of Atlanta; two daughters, Suzanne Hoffman and husband rick of Sharon, Pa., and Sandy Riede and husband Jason of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be in East Brady, Pa., Saturday, Sept. 14.

KENNETH O. MOORE

May 9, 1935 - Sept. 7, 2013
Kenneth O. Moore, 75, of Bivins, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in a Shreveport, La., hospital surrounded by family.

He was born May 9, 1935, in Atlanta to Dewey and Lola Williams Moore. After graduating from Atlanta High School, he went on to work for SWEPCO for 15 years. He retired from Shell Oil after 22 years and worked for numerous other corporations. He retired from Texarkana ISD after 10 years. He was a past member of Westside Baptist Church and a current member of Good Exchange Baptist Church of McLeod. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gloria Ann Wilson, 64, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital.
She was born June 17, 1949, in Texarkana to Alva Harry, Sr. and Mildred Wilson. She was a homemaker, a member of the cast of the movie “Liar’s Moon” and a member of Enon Baptist Church. She loved goats, playing dominos and crocheting. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, A. H. Wilson, Jr., and Jimmy Wilson.
She is survived by two sons, William Wilson and wife Kara of Doddridge, Ark., and Daniel Moore and wife Candice of Deer Park; one daughter, Charlyne Jones of Seabrook; two brothers, Dale Wilson and Roger Wilson both of Doddridge; four grandchildren, Justin Moore, Nicholas Moore, Xander Wilson and Savanna Skye Jones; one great-grandchild, Chasity Lyric; and a number of other relatives.

HUBERT HILL

Hubert Hill, 92, went home to be with the Lord, Sept. 4, 2013.
He was born July 12, 1921, to Creston William Hill and Beulah Kirkland Hill. He owned Hill’s Sewing Center of Atlanta for over 50 years before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Queen City, faithfully serving as a deacon for over 45 years, and he was a Gideon for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Troy Hill; and his first wife, Doris Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Preble Hill of Atlanta; two sons, Dan Hill and wife Roxanne of Houston and Randy Hill and wife Nancy of Texarkana, Ark.; three grandchildren, Shannon McNeece, Danyale Bailey and Brian Hill; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Jerry Hill and wife Joyce of Magnolia; a sister, Janice Prator and husband Nolan of Queen City; one special niece, Kim; a number of other nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
