LEE ANNA MACK

Lee Anna Mack, 100, of Linden passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
She was born Jan. 13, 1913 to Arthur and Ada Lockett of Linden. She was the seventh of none children. In 1935, she married Fred Mack. They created a loving home and enjoyed many happy years together until he died in 1967.
She attended the Fairview Schools, was an active member of the Community Council of Cass County and was a member of the Linden Chapter 502 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She became a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church early in life. She later joined the New Light Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary of the choir, president of the youth department, chairperson of prayer meetings, chairperson of the deaconesses and held the revered title of Mother of the Church.

Bubba Kirkland, 41, of Queen City, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1971, in Naples. He was employed with ABCO Industrial Coating. He was known by many for his love of racing cars and motorcycles.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Cothren and husband David of Queen City; his father, Vernice Kirkland and wife Traci of Jefferson; five sisters, Jaime Kirkland-Wyatt and husband David of Bloomburg, Morgan Westbrook of Marietta, Joanne Gibson and husband Jonathan of Wake Village, Cindy Jackson of Denver, Colo., and Gretchen Massingill and husband Eric of Atlanta; two brothers, Remington Westbrook of Marietta and Michael Harrist of Atlanta; grandparents, Bernice Addy of Marietta and Ed and Mary Whitlow of Queen City; his best friend, Reggie King of Atlanta; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins

SALLIE JENELL CLUBB

Sallie Jenell Clubb, 84, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in an Atlanta nursing home.
She was born August 6, 1928. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church and the Phi Sigma Alpha sorority. She enjoyed reading about history and attending Bible study class. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Leslie M. Clubb; her granddaughter, Amie R. Teale; and three older sisters, Voncil Wright, Ruby Foster and Ruth Cross, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Donald Clubb; a daughter, Judy Coolidge and husband Dwight of Atlanta; a brother, Howard Hare of Daphne, Ala.; one grandson, David Clubb of Irving; five great-grandchildren, Xavier, Taylor and Zoe Clubb of Irving and Madison and Jackson Teale of Atlanta.

Letha Endsley West, 89, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Miller County, Ark. She was retired from Atlanta Independent School District and Red River Army Depot. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 58 years, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, B. T. “Red” West; her parents, Herbert Aaron Endsley and Stella V. Carter; a sister, Margaret Sullivan; three brothers, Junior Endsley, Eddie Endsley and Freddie Endsley.

Stirling V. Lofton, 55, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 30, 1957, in Baton Rouge, La., to Thomas and Sue Lofton. He was the Building Superintendent for First Baptist Church in Atlanta for 27 years. He was a very active member and loved by his entire church family. In his spare time, he was a master woodworker, enjoyed riding motorcycles and played the bass guitar.

David Fant, 57, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Shreveport, La.
He was born Sept. 17, 1955, in Atlanta, to George William, Sr. and Zema Fant. He was retired from the State of Texas, where he was the Health and Sanitation Inspector. He was recently employed with Red River Army Depot, where he was a mechanic. He was a veteran of the Texas Army National Guard, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed genealogy and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Williams, Sr. and Zema Fant; a brother, George Fant, Jr.; and a nephew, Tom Fant.

Renown author and community leader dies at 77

A memorial service for Bob Bowman, 77, of Lufkin, will be held at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church Thursday, July 18.
He was born in Anderson County June 3, 1936, and passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, in a Lufkin Hospital after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Bowman, owner of Bob Bowman & Associates, Inc., a Lufkin-based public relations agency, which served clients throughout the U.S., was also one of Texas’ leading historians and a long-time community leader in Lufkin and East Texas.
