Virgil Gordon Studebaker, 69, of Linden, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 in Longview.
He was born Sept. 9, 1944, in Texarkana, Ark., to Perry Gordon Studebaker and Beatrice Johnson Studebaker. 
He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Finney Studebaker; his parents; his son, Keith Ramos; his daughter, Elaine Y’Barbo; his brother, Sam Studebaker; his sisters, Bonnie Brady and Carolyn Sanchez; and his grandson, Eric Lee Cook.
He is survived by his sons, Marco Studebaker of Linden and wife Shannon of Grand Prairie, John Cook and wife Stephanie of Maypearl and Stan Cook of Redwater; his brother, Delbert L. Studebaker of Linden; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Corinth Cemetery in Linden under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home

JERRY ‘BRUBBY’ SPRAYBERRY

Jerry “Brubby” Sprayberry, 60, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in Atlanta.
He was born May 6, 1953, in Queen City, to Jim and Lillian Sprayberry. He was a farm worker and enjoyed spending time with his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Sprayberry; and two sisters, Marie Elliott and Lorene Alexander.
He is survived by two brothers, Lonnie Sprayberry of Atlanta and Doyle Sprayberry of Atlanta; two sisters, Ann Brown of Atlanta and Faye Alvarez of Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Alvin Bee Raney, 86, of Atlanta, died peacefully in his home on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. He was born on Sept. 5, 1927 in Houston. After serving in the U. S. Navy and Air Force, he entered Louisiana Tech and graduated in 1957, with a degree in electrical engineering. He also worked many years as a minister in the Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harry and Bill Raney; his children, Craig Raney and Cindy Pepper; and his grandson, Travis Raney.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Maxie; his son, Keith Raney; his daughter, Karen Couey; his brother, Roy Raney; and sister, Sylvia Grimes; and numerous beloved grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Billy Mathews, 66, of Queen City, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 1, 1947, in Pine Bluff Ark. He was retired from International Paper where he worked for 43 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy Wiggins; and father in law, James “Bill” Blizzard.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Carolyn Mathews of Queen City; two sons, Patrick O’Brian Wiggins of Queen City and Joshua James Wiggins of Queen City; mother in law, Illine Blizzard of Huffines; two brothers, Lewis Mathews and wife Joy of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Rodney Williams of Pine Bluff; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Rose Mary Johnekin, 92, of Queen City, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital surrounded by family.
She was born Nov. 20, 1920, in Queen City, to Eugene “Sambo” and Addine Butts Braxton. She was a retired nanny, was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and loved singing, entertaining, and playing dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward Hodge and Roosevelt Johnekin; step-son, Charles Ray Golden, Sr.; four grandchildren, Kevin Andrews, Tevis Andrews, Gearld Andrews and Patricia Wafer.
Her daughter, Jane Andrews and husband Eural, Sr. of Queen City; 11 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and other relatives, survives her.

CANDY DANIEL

Candy Daniel, 87, of Atlanta, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, in Tyler.
She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Abilene, to Benjamin and Mable Harris. She was a church secretary and choir director in a number of churches for many years. She was an Order of the Eastern Star member of lodge 576. In her spare time, Candy enjoyed painting and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry “P.A.” Daniel and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kennedy of Tyler; two grandsons, Rick Kennedy of Tyler and Trent Kennedy of Tyler.
Private services will be under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701.

Sherry Ellen Elder, 60, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in a local hospital surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 16, 1953, in Houston to J. T. and Mattie Sallas. She was retired from Southwestern Bell, was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, a board member of the Jefferson Opera Theater and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Clowns.
Her parents and her father-in-law, Archie Elder, preceded her in death.
