Baker knows firsthand the challenges a parent faces in raising a child with disabilities. She also knows there are more resources available then there were more than 20 years ago when her son was diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities.

Balcony support causes a holdup

By Angela Guillory
Is there support for balconies in downtown Linden? That has been the unresolved question for almost a year now as one property owner on East Houston Street has tried to gain approval to install a balcony.
Mayor Clarence Burns held a joint meeting with concerned parties and council members to address the balcony right-of-way issue last week. Title I national award was unexpected but welcomed by AES

Only one school from each of the 50 states is chosen each year for the honor. Read more in our e-edition: http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine24694/Full/index.aspx?id=24694

New band uniforms presented to Linden-Kildare CISD trustees

By Angela Guillory
Linden-Kildare CISD trustees got their first look at the proposed new band uniforms for L-K High School Band students during the March 18 board meeting.
A prototype was presented by Band Director Don Hardin and band student Clay Fairless, who is a trombone player for the L-K Band.
Hardin explained the current band uniforms are ten years old and are showing wear. The white areas are becoming dingy. He has 63 band uniforms but is looking at having 70 band students next year so uniforms will have to be purchased for the additional students.  Read more in our e-edition: http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine24722/Full/index.aspx?id=24722
