Lewter named publisher of Cass County Sun

Current Atlanta Citizens Journal publisher Austin Lewter was named publisher of the Cass County Sun last week, according to the newspaper’s managing partner Jim Moser. 
In addition to publishing duties of the Sun and the Journal, Lewter is the Group Manager of Northeast Texas Publishing where he supervises the Steel Country Bee (Daingerfied), Bowie County Citizens Tribune (New Boston) and Pittsburg Gazette.  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine25115/Full/index.aspx?id=25115

Atlanta City Council reviews financial report

The Atlanta City Council accepted their year-to-date financial report in a brief regular session Monday night at City Hall. 
The meeting came to order at 6 p.m. with all five councilmen and Mayor Keith Crow in attendance.

Bobo retires from Texas AgriLife

Tree House

In the aftermath of the storm this weekend, several trees were blown down in various parts of Atlanta, few as scary as the immense oak tree that fell at 604 E. Hiram St. The resident was at home, but was saved by the well-constructed superstructure of the house.

Atlanta ISD on track in the tech department

The Atlanta ISD Board of Trustees got up to speed on the district’s technology system Thursday night with Tech. Director Ben Rice’s annual report. 
Rice reminded the board that all AISD students grades 7-12 are issued a MacBook (laptop) device. Linden-Kildare brass quintet advances to state

AHS band students recognized

Atlanta High Band squad leaders and drum majors were recognized by the AISD Board of Trustees last Thursday night for achieving a fourth sweepstakes award in four years. To be designated a “Sweepstakes Band,” a group must receive superior ratings in UIL marching, concert and sight reading contests.

One-Act Play performs Thursday

QC EDC loan fund makes internet available

Funds from the Queen City Economic Development corporation Revolving Loan Fund assisted Gozoe Wireless in their project to provide the city with a high speed internet, which is available to all homes and businesses.
Gozoe Wireless, a Marshall-based company, is currently using 10 towers in the Queen City/Atlanta area to service residents with high speed internet services, according to the company owner, Ashton Closner. “Virtually every house in Queen City is covered thanks to the help of Queen City EDC and their loan to add two additional towers to the Queen City area.”  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine25102/Full/index.aspx?id=25102
