MUMS students bring home trophies in UIL state contest

Jay Patel, eighth grade, received first place in number sense, first place in calculator and first place general math.
The Morris Upchurch Middle School Math and Science Team competed in San Antonio at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Championship meet on Saturday, April 6.
The number sense team, calculator team, general math team and science team brought home first place team trophies. After the four events, Queen City won the AA First Place sweepstakes trophy as well.

MUMS announces Duke Scholars

Eleven seventh grade students from Morris Upchurch Middle School participated in the Duke Talent Identification Program, which identifies academically talented young people and offers them a wide array of educational opportunities. Beware of scams

Don’t be fooled. If someone calls claiming you owe them money it may be a scam unless, of course, you aren’t paying your bills, then that is another story. 
Linden Police Department officers have received more than half a dozen reports over the past two months from residents who have received calls from con artists trying to scam them out of money. Journal, Sun launch web portal

The combined efforts of the Atlanta Citizens Journal and the Cass County Sun are now available online with the recent launch of casscountynow.com, according to publisher Austin Lewter.

Play It Forward puts guitars into students’ hands

Music City Texas is inspiring students to learn to play the guitar. On Friday, two lucky students at Linden-Kildare High School became recipients of new guitars.

Clerk plans move into restored courthouse

Cass County Commissioner Precinct 3 Paul Cothren confirmed during commissioners court Monday the county clerk’s office is set to move into the Cass County Courthouse the second and third weeks in May.

Linden City Council hires new adminisrator

Progress on library continues

Council discusses alcohol ordinance, renovations

Linden City Council held an informal special meeting on March 26, to discuss three issues: an alcohol ordnance, city hall renovations and city of distinction proposal.
