Alvin Battle made sure to make his final powerlifting appearance of his high school career a memorable one.
Alvin came from behind in the dead lift event to overtake a lifter from Orangefield and win a 4A state championship in his weight class at the State Meet held on March 28, in Abilene held inside the Taylor County Convention Center.

In a rare rain-free day, the Linden-Kildare Tigers baseball team and Lady Tigers softball teams were able to get a full game on the books March 16 and 17.
Both teams, however, struggled with the baseball team losing 4-0 to Mt. Vernon. The softball team fell to Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill 18-1.
Atlanta and Pittsburg were scheduled to play each other last Friday night but with news of more rain heading towards the area both programs decided to play on March 17.
The day didn’t matter to the Lady Rabbs as they rolled past Pittsburg 7-2 in district play.
Atlanta has lucked out more than most teams which have dealt with bad field conditions due to horrible weather over the past month in having played quite a few more games.
The Rabbs (6-1) played three games in six days and went 2-1 in that span leaving them with an overall record of 7-2.
After falling behind early, the Linden-Kildare Lady Tigers could not make up lost ground, dropping their district opener to Paul Pewitt 17-12.
