L-K Tigerettes attend national dance camp at NSU

The Linden-Kildare Tigerettes attended a National Dance Alliance (NDA) camp at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. 
As a team L-K earned an excellent rating for team dance and earned the Leaps and Bounds Award. 
The Tigerettes earned a spirit stick each day of camp as well.

Young athletes attend Linden-Kildare volleyball camp

Linden-Kildare head volleyball coach Quen Banks, along with coaches Carla Hines and Shayne Erwin, taught several young, future Lady Tigers the basics and finer points of volleyball at the volleyball camp last week for girls entering grades 5-9 inside the Linden-Kildare High School gym.

M.U.M.S. cheerleaders excel at UCA summer camp

The Morris Upchurch Middle School cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association summer camp at Great Wolf Lodge on Aug. 3-6.  
The squad worked diligently throughout the week learning new cheers, sideline chants, stunts and dance routines.

Thompson receives 30-year service award from TAE

During the 2015 Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (VATAT) Conference, held July 27- 31 in Waco, Queen City Agriculture teacher Joe Thompson was recognized for 30 years of service to Texas Agricultural Education in front of a crowd of more than 1,500 of his colleagues.

Predator: Bobcats

For this writing, I elect not to cover the bobcat history. 
We can go back millions of years ago to find that the bobcat existed and how it has changed over that period of time, but that is not the purpose of this article.  
The bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a nocturnal species of feline. 
These carnivorous mammals, which are the most abundant wildcat on the North American continent, are rather solitary animals that are not frequently seen by others.

Emily Owens receives Lone Star FFA Degree

Queen City High School 2015 graduate, Emily Owens, received her Lone Star FFA Degree at the 87th Texas FFA State Convention held in Corpus Christi, July 13-17. 
Emily is the first student from Queen City High School to receive this degree since 1999. Emily got to walk across the stage in front of more than 10,000 people and receive the highest honor the State FFA Association presents to students.

Isaiah Chandler bolts into TAAF championships

Atlanta Middle School athlete Isaiah Chandler has been training over the past few months for the chance of a lifetime and the hard work paid off for the young Atlanta track runner.
On July 17, Isaiah took part in the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Region 4 Track Meet at The Colony High School and left the event with a gold medal and a spot in the championship finals.

Atlanta coaches educate young athletes at camp

Atlanta’s coaching staff hosted the fifth annual free Summer Youth Football Camp on July 22 and July 23 for kids ranging from first grade to ninth between the two days at the Atlanta High School practice field.
The coaches covered and taught the campers everything such as going through warm-up activities, learning respect for their coaches, and each other, and coaching them on football skills and drills related to Rabbit championship football.
