Sherry Ellen Elder, 60, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in a local hospital surrounded by family.
She was born Feb. 16, 1953, in Houston to J. T. and Mattie Sallas. She was retired from Southwestern Bell, was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, a board member of the Jefferson Opera Theater and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Clowns.
Her parents and her father-in-law, Archie Elder, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Douglas Elder of Atlanta; three sons, Jerry Sallas, Jr. of Austin, John Sallas of Austin and Kevin Sallas of Sherman; three daughters, Mary Elder of Atlanta, Tonya Deshazur of Queen City and Kim Hyatt of Columbia, Mo.; four brothers, R. J. Trevillion of McCaskell, Ark., Thurman Goza of Blachard, Okla., Donald Goza of Houston and Jerry Sallas of Austin; six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church with Bro. Josh Lee officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, at Rosewood Cemetery in Humble under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
