MCT Theater presents three big summer shows

Three big shows are coming to Music City Texas Theater this summer starting with Whiskey Myers on Saturday, July 26.
Whiskey Myers has a confidence born of a long-standing brotherhood - a closeness that few groups can rival.
“We all grew up together around Palestine Texas,” bassist Gary Brown explains. “We’re two sets of cousins.”
Whiskey Myers second album, “Firewater” enjoyed a remarkable run on the Texas Music Charts that culminated with its single “Anna Marie” reaching number one.
Their new album “Early Morning Shakes,” is grounded in the sincere, fun-loving energy of their bar band roots and features a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin.

DeLay takes first in state UIL

By Elandria Steger
Atlanta High School Yearbook Editor-in-Chief

Seventy. That’s how many people he mentally counts are in the room. It was not a traditional classroom like he expected- more like an auditorium.
He moves his chair to calm his nervousness waiting for the prompt to be given out.
The moment it’s in front of him, Atlanta High School junior Dylan DeLay’s nervousness ceases and he prepares to write his story. This is something he knows and something he’s good at.
Dylan placed first in news writing at the UIL state meet held in Austin May 20.
“I could not believe it,” he said. “[Journalism teacher] Mrs. Greig told me earlier in the day that I placed in the top six. I was happy about that but I still wanted more. At the awards ceremony, it was nerve-racking sitting there as they called out the names, starting from sixth place and working down.”
