Spring Fling kicks off April 20

The Ladies of Bryans Mill and Friends Spring Fling is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Saturday, April 20.
The Spring Fling provides a variety of activities beginning with breakfast served from 7-9 a.m. by the Ladies of Bryans Mill and Friends. Giving a helping hand!

Bloomburg ISD Elementary Student Council made a donation to Second Chance Furbabies, a no-kill nonprofit animal shelter. In a two-week period, the elementary students brought in over 100 items from toys and food to cleaning supplies. Kildare gardeners learn about tomatoes

The Kildare Garden Group learned about tomatoes during its meeting held March 20, with 11 members attending and one guest.  
The business meeting was conducted by President Shirley Mitchell.

More than 20 people attended the first of six low-cholesterol cooking classes held at the Mary Daughtey Senior Citizen Center on Thursday.

Hitmaker talks about roots, music and having fun

Oh, the stories he could tell. JD Souther, one of the preeminent songwriters of our time, is preparing for a four-night gig in the Lone Star State. It’s a mini-homecoming for the Texas native.
“My mother, Loty Finley, was from Amarillo,” Souther said during a telephone interview Wednesday. “She was a stenographer for the commanding officer where my dad was stationed at the end of World War II. He took her to his home in Detroit where JD was born. RYLA students attend Atlanta Rotary Club luncheon

Local students attended a recent Atlanta Rotary Club luncheon where they shared their experiences from the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp.
Students from five area schools – Atlanta, Bloomburg, Linden, McLeod and Queen City – were chosen to attend the camp and  were sponsored by the Atlanta Rotarians. Little Miss Wildflower Trails Pageant queens crowned

Seven queens were crowned during the Little Miss Wildflower Trails of Texas Pageant on March 30 in Nelson-Murphy Auditorium at Linden-Kildare High School.
