Douglassville 4-H Club shares highlights, proposals

The Douglassville Community 4-H Club has officially completed one year as a chartered 4-H club with the Cass County 4-H and Youth Development Program. 
The club was formed as a result of our 4-H “Back to Nature” Day Camp and the Prairie View A&M University – Cooperative Extension Youth Leadership Lab. Young woman to serve mission in South Brazil

The Southern part of Brazil will soon have a Texas woman in their midst.  April Franks, 20, has accepted a call to serve for 18 months as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Curitiba Mission.
Franks will leave September 4th for the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah and will spend a few weeks there studying the Portuguese language and culture.  Her time there will also include learning how to share her beliefs of Jesus Christ and how to teach others. Local firefighters attend fire school at Texas A&M

Five local Cass County firefighters were among the more than 1,900 firemen from all over the state of Texas who attended the 84th Annual Municipal Fire School at Texas A&M University during the week of July 21.

DPS reminds Texans to watch for children

Book signing at public library

Anne Redelfs, MD will be the featured author at a book signing from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at at the Atlanta Public Library. Members of the Cass County Writer’s Group will begin reading excerpts of The Awakening Storm at 11 a.m. and host a discussion. Member Sharon Cromer will be displaying her artwork. Refreshments will be provided. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
