Chamber to merge two big events this year

Moonlight Madness combines with Hoot N’ Holler Festival

The Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce has decided to hold two big events on the date. 
The Hoot N’ Holler Festival and Midnight Madness are both slated for Sept. 7.

Interdiction Program making strides to protect children

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has showcased the success of its premier Interdiction for the Protection of Children (IPC) program, which helps officers identify and recover missing or exploited children.

Webinar addresses Brush Sculpting with Wildlife in Mind

“Wildlife for Lunch” webinar will address Brush Sculpting with Wildlife in Mind at noon, Thursday, Aug. 15. This month’s presenter will be Ken Cearley, Extension Wildlife Specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Ken will be speaking on Brush Sculpting with Wildlife in Mind. He will cover the process, considerations, tools available and planning and implementation with GPS/GIS.

Church hosts school supply drive

First Baptist Church Linden is hosting a “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive to help Linden-Kildare Elementary students prepare for school.

Families take part in water day at park

Water conservation didn’t seem to dampen children’s enthusiasm as they ate snow cones, played in the bounce house with misters and attempted to dunk their favorite firefighter. 
Linden Volunteer Fire Department held a water day at the Linden City Park on Saturday for children and residents. They sold hamburger plates and snow cones to raise money to purchase wildland gear for volunteer firefighters.

New pet alerts family of fire at Legion Street home

The Turner family was awakened by a family pet after a fire broke out in an adjacent storage building as the family slept. Linden Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) responded to a structure fire at 7:26 a.m. Saturday, July 27 on Legion Street.
LVFD Chief Robert Luzio said he received a call to a structure fire on Legion Street across from the Music City Texas Theater on Saturday morning. When LVFD arrived the south side of the house was on fire. The back porch and attic were burning.
