The Texas Forest Trail Region and the Texas Brazos Trail and the Texas Brazos Trail Region will hold DIY.Design, a visual communication workshop, in Hughes Springs on Monday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The newly constructed Legacy Event Center has been selected as the location for this workshop.
Members of James Bowie Chapter, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, took a virtual tour of the Texas State Cemetery at their Sept. 21 meeting. Chapter Treasurer Susan McClain was the guide during the 30-minute video, which can be viewed on the Texas State Cemetery website.
The former Pleasant Hill School now called the Pleasant Hill Center recently received a Texas Historical Medallion. Cass County Historical Commission and Pleasant Hill School Restoration Committee member Floyzell Stephenson said this is only the second building she knows of other than the Cass County Courthouse to receive a Texas Historical Medallion in Linden. Louella Vernon showcased a portion of her personal collection of antique irons with members and guests at the Cass County Genealogical Society meeting held Oct. 8 at the Queen City United Methodist Church. She also shared the past 100 years’ history of ironing clothes. Her personal collection includes coal, kerosene and electric irons.
Good Shepherd Medical Center - Linden is hosting a blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21 inside the LifeShare Blood Centers Bloodmobile. The bloodmobile will be parked behind the hospital at the physical therapy building. All donors will receive a free T-shirt.
