Rowe, Terry to wed

Larry and Teena Rowe of Atlanta would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelby Rowe, to Josh Terry, son of Joel Terry of Atlanta and Darren and Denise Bignar of Fayetteville, Ark.
The future bride is a graduate of Queen City High School. She is the granddaughter of Edith Rowe and the late Bobby Rowe and Luther and Brenda Lawless of Lindale.
The prospective groom is a graduate of Atlanta High School. He is the grandson of Joel and Dorothy Terry of Atlanta, Tom and Helen Aylor of Fayetteville, Edward Knapp of New Boston and the late Paulette Knapp.
The wedding will be Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.
After the nuptials, the couple will make their home in Atlanta.

Attaway tunes up downtown mural

Linden native Brad Attaway recently completed restoration of the Music City Texas fiddle mural to its original grandeur. 
Attaway was commissioned by Linden Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) to restore the mural he had originally painted in 2001.

Lewis wants to bring happiness to LHC residents

Jessica Lewis of Naples has assumed the position as the new activity director at Linden Healthcare Center. 
“I am so happy and excited to hold the position of Linden Healthcare’s activity director,” Lewis said. Before she accepted the position she was a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) at Linden Healthcare and working at another facility. Driving a school bus is not an easy task, just ask the most seasoned professional. Proper training to drive one of the big yellow machines requires on-going education that goes well beyond that of handling a passenger car or pickup. The men and women that transport children daily to and from school are on their toes to make sure their passengers receive the safest commute. Superintendent Dr. James Cowley read a letter from Governor Rick Perry who proclaimed October as Principals Month.

A Queen City High School Project Graduation haunted house starts Friday and Davenport says they must outdo last years’ senior class this time around so he can reclaim his title of highest selling haunted house director for this senior class.

Linden Lion’s Club announces its first Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest beginning Monday, Oct. 21. The Lion’s Club will have pumpkins for sale at their headquarters, 107 N. Main St., from Oct. 21st through Oct. 27, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. each night.

Our woman of the year banquet will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Oteria McDaniel is the honoree. Local children included in charity book project

Nine Atlanta Middle School students were chosen to have their works included in a book that will benefit St Jude and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. 
The event will take place at the Texas High School Cafeteria, on Kennedy Lane in Texarkana, Texas on Saturday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
