Cass County ESD #2 hosts Hero Run 5K and Pumper race

Rain usually keeps people indoors but last Saturday runners and firefighters from various parts of Texas and Arkansas took part in the Hero Run 5K and Pumper Race fundraiser hosted by Cass County ESD#2 and sponsored by Richardson “No Bull” Insurance for injured firefighter Dakota Huddleston in front of the First Baptist Church in Queen City.

Last week Linden-Kildare multi-sport athlete Shardai Love signed commitment papers to continue her track career at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Love broke through to the state finals in both her junior and senior years and represented L-K well both times.

Mason completes another undefeated season

As the Atlanta Dixie League spring season comes to a close, the successful year of the 12U Mustangs, will not soon be forgotten. 
Head Coach Bobby Mason and his assistant, Travis Deel, coached the Mustangs to a first place finish in the Field Day Tournament and the John C. Stanley Tournament. The Mustangs also finished first place in the league with an undefeated season.

Linden-Kildare teachers, coaches to offerseveral summer camps to youth in area

Linden-Kildare CISD coaches and teachers will hold several summer camps for area youth to attend including cheer camp, baseball camp, Tigerette camp, basketball camp, majorette camp and volleyball camp.

Cheer camp will take place at L-K High School beginning on Monday, June 2 and finishing up on Thursday, June 5.

The camp will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on those days for girls ages 3-12.

L-K’s Shardai Love looks to jump into history books

Linden-Kildare senior Shardai Love will be competing at the state track and field meet for the second year in a row.
Shardai is looking to break through in the triple jump and solidify a spot on the medal podium in front of thousands of people at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin this weekend.
Before the school year began L-K Athletic Director Todd Elliott asked retired coach Shekita Martin if she would help coach the jumpers in track and she gladly acquiesced.

Lady Rabbs crowned Bi-District Champions after series win

Atlanta’s softball team took one step closer to the state tournament this season after winning game two of a double-header against Henderson on May 2, at Marshall High School. 
With the Lady Rabbs defeating the Lady Lions 3-2 on May 1, all Atlanta had to do is win game two to end the series.
Unfortunately, Henderson bettered the Lady Rabbs 7-6 in the second game of the series, forcing a decisive game three thirty minutes after game two.
The time off woke Atlanta’s bats up as the Lady Rabbs claimed a 14-1 victory behind a spectacular pitching performance by Lanee Oliver, who also pitched all of game two.

Runners converge on Linden for Wildflower Trails 5K race

Runners of all ages made their way to Linden last week to take part in the Wildflower Trails 5K race.
The event drew 74 participants and the athletes didn’t disappoint.
Moises Netro was the overall winner of the race and of the men’s division with a time of 17:23, followed by second place winner John Baker at 17:46 and third place overall winner Nicholas Bergt at 18:38.
