L-K Tigers prepare for a new season in a new district

Linden-Kildare has been in transition mode for the past few years as underclassmen dominated the landscape throughout the Tigers’ athletic program.
The Tigers began fall practices on Aug. 4, under fourth year Head Coach Todd Elliott and the young team brings back several players who have been on the field since their freshman or sophomore year.

Atlanta hosts another successful youth football camp

These young campers received medals for placing first in the punt, kick, pass, and 40-yard dash competition and also for outstanding lineman, wide receiver and hustle awards for their respective grade level. Atlanta’s coaching staff hosted the fourth annual free Summer Youth Football Camp on July 29 and July 30 for kids ranging from 1st grade to 9th between the two days at the Atlanta High School practice field.
The coaches covered and taught the campers everything such as going through warm-up activities, learning respect for their coaches and each other and coaching them on football skills and drills related to Rabbit championship football.

Members from the Queen City FFA chapter attended the 86th annual Texas FFA State Convention held July 14-18 in Fort Worth.

Former Atlanta Rabbit coach shares Olympic experience

Former Atlanta Rabbit head coach James Moffatt was invited to be a guest speaker at the Atlanta Lions Club meeting this past week. Coach Moffatt retired from Texas High in 1995 and has since made the most of his retirement by competing in the Senior Olympics. The Atlanta Lions Club meets every Wednesday downtown and the guest speaker this past week was former Atlanta Rabbit head coach James Moffatt.
Lions Club member Joel Steger introduced Coach Moffatt to those in attendance and the coach that took control of the Rabbit Express in 1965 and served four years as the athletic director took the club on a visual ride of his very active lifestyle at 77 years old.

Andrea Lee Aaron conquers amateur level, readies for pro debut

Andrea “KGB” Lee (Aaron) pounds on one of her opponents during a match inside the cage. Aaron makes her pro debut in XFC this fall after taking the amateur fighting scene by storm.
Andrea Aaron, or Andrea “KGB” Lee to many here at home and on the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) scene, has taken a dream and turned it into a reality.
After conquering the amateur level, the first-ever Muay Thai triple crown winner, signed a professional contract with the XFC (Xtreme Fighting Championships).

L-K cheerleaders attend camp at Tarleton State University

Almost a week after helping Cheer Coach Kristina LeJeune hold another amazing mini-cheer camp, the Linden-Kildare varsity cheerleaders attended camp at Tarleton State University on June 16-19.
The cheerleaders took the energy obtained from the mini-camp and turned it into a great performance as a squad.

L-K hosts another successful summer Mini Cheer Camp

Linden-Kildare cheerleaders Jordann Schuler, Shenari Green and Christina Roberts help the 10-12 year olds “knock spirit out of the park” on baseball day during the Mini Cheer Camp held by cheer coordinator Kristina LeJeune. The camp boasted 73 girls with the motto “we cheer year round”.

Linden-Kildare’s head cheer instructor Kristi LeJeune held another mini cheerleading camp from June 2-5. 
A whopping 73 girls turned out for the cheer camp which involved young ladies from ages 3-12.

East Texas turkey restoration gets a boost

More than 200 eastern wild turkeys from other states are packing their bags and moving to Texas this year, with the help of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
