Visitation was from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 19, at Queen City Funeral Home.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Bivins Cemetery under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home.

MONROE McPHERSON

July 6, 1933 - April 18, 2015

Monroe McPherson, 81, of Queen City, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 18, 2015, in an Atlanta nursing home.

He was born July 6, 1933, in Cass County, to Aaron and Magnolia Mae Ward McPherson. He was the retired owner of Monroe’s Garage, was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and loved working on cars and fishing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Hesse and husband Joshua of Bivins; a brother, Curtis McPherson of Foreman, Ark.; two sisters, Earnestine Russell of Atlanta and Geneva Sprayberry of Atlanta; and a number of other relatives.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Feb. 14, 1930 - April 18, 2015

Cecil P. Maxwell, Jr., 85, of Flint, formerly a lifetime resident of Kildare Junction, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 18, 2015, in a Tyler hospital.

He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Natchez, Miss., to Cecil Sr. and Bessie Maxwell. He was retired from Dillard Smith Construction and was a Baptist by faith. He serviced in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a faithful donor to the Disabled American Veterans. He loved spending time hunting and collecting coins and fishing. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carolyn Maxwell.

Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Reeder-Davis funeral Home in Ore City.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, at Ore City Methodist Church with Rev. David Williamson and Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Interment followed at Ore City Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

Kenneth “Roy” Swearengin, 61, of Ravanna, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at this home.
He was born Sept. 15, 1952, to C.A. and Tommie Elizabeth Swearengin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Andrew Swearengin; and his brother-in-law, Homer Slay.
He is survived by his sisters, Sherry Sullivan and husband Louis of Ravanna, Ark., Dorothy Slay of Gentry, Ark., and Judy Davis and husband Ben of Mooringsport, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews and friends; and one special friend, Anita Young.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, La.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Rodney Warren. Interment will follow at Good Exchange Cemetery in McLeod under the direction of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home.

Florence A. McCreery, 75, of Salem Community, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 20, 2014, in a Texarkana hospital surrounded by family.
She was born March 7, 1939, in Bloomburg to Elmer and Ollie Hollingsworth. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She loved spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Orville Hollingsworth and Major Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn McCreery of Salem Community; two sons, Glenuel McCreery of Salem Community and James McCreery and wife Dolores of Queen City; one daughter, Margaret Hays and husband Tony of Queen City; two grandchildren, Patrick Hays and wife Kristy of Texarkana, Ark., and Toni Burton and husband Robert of Atlanta; three great-grandchildren, Dyan Burton, Brandon Burton and Brock Hays; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Thurman D. Jones, 89, of Bivins, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in an Atlanta hospital.
He was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Cass County. He was married to his beautiful and loving Tonya Mitchell Jones. He was a U. S. Army veteran, who was a prisoner of war and was missing in action during World War II. He was also a teacher for 30 years in Tennessee and was a member of Bethsaida “Y” Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Edna Jones; three brothers, Billy Jones, Allan Jones and Jimmy Jones; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Jack Karr; and his former wife, mother to his three beautiful daughters, Loretta Jean Chapman Jones.
