DONALD ‘DON’ JACKSON HOLLAND

Donald “Don” Jackson Holland, 86, originally of Atlanta, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013.
He was born March 16, 1927, to I. H. “Ike” and Ruth Smith Holland in Norphlet, Ark. He attended Atlanta High School where he met and married his sweetheart, Neta Fay Heldt on Oct. 10, 1947. They moved to south Texas, where they lived until 1979, when they moved to Longview.
He spent all his working years in the oil field, starting with Arkansas Fuel Oil, and then he worked for Cities Service Oil and Gas and retired from Oxy USA, Inc. in 1989, after 41 years of service. He was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and Yeates Sunday School Class. He enjoyed people, golf and good jokes.

MARJORIE RICE BAMMEL

Marjorie Rice Bammel, 89, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, in a local adult care facility.
She was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Houston. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Dutch” Bammel and by her parents, Daisy Bell Rice and P. B. Rice.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Jones and husband Boyd of Bloomburg; a sister, Jo Ann Dowling of Houston; one grandson, Keith Jones and wife Deborah of Texarkana; and one great-grandson, Ethan Jones.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 pm, Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Wesley House in Atlanta.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Humble Area First Baptist Church in Humble. Interment will follow under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Myra Mae “Babe” Wooten, 88, of Queen City, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.  She passed away from Cardio Respiratory complications at Christus St. Michael Hospital.
She was born Jan. 25, 1925, in Johntown, Texas. She was a great student and did well in everything she set to accomplish. She met and married Raymond Floyd Wooten and had six children, who are all very accomplished, because of the strength, honesty and work ethic, which she bestowed upon them.

Myrline Wood, 81, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, in a Texarkana hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Doddridge, Ark., to Artice and Ethel Dunlap Bowlin. She was the retired owner of Wood Flowers and Gifts, a member of the Atlanta Church of Christ and a past member of the Eastern Star and Theos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wood; a son, Don Wood; daughter, Linda Wood; and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, J. C. Wood and wife Cathy of Bedford and Larry Wood and wife Suzanne of Las Vegas, Nev.; one daughter, Marcelle Yates of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Hanner Funeral Service.
