Bob Gilmore, 73, of Wake Village, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his residence.
He was born May 31, 1940, in Atlanta, to Austin and Lela Gilmore. He was the owner of RG & Associates Security and loved his grandsons and his animals.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennie Gilmore, Jimmy Gilmore, Harlan Gilmore, Bernard Gilmore and his parents.
He is survived by a son, Robert Gilmore of Wake Village; a daughter, Kristi Robinson of Heath; three grandchildren, Blake Robinson of Heath, Triston Robinson of Heath and Austin Gilmore of Wake Village; three nephews, David Gilmore of Houston, Dwayne Gilmore of Texarkana and Paul Gilmore of Vivian, La.; two nieces, Rachael Walker and Marlana Yates; one sister-in-law, Sue Gilmore; and a daughter-in-law, Mahlon Smith.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Hanner Funeral Service

HARRIS KENTON TEEL

Harris Kenton Teel, 82, of Gilmer, died from injuries sustained Tuesday, Nov. 26, in an attack at the Ambulatory Surgical Center at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
“Papa Teel,” as he was known affectionately by his grandchildren and much of his family, was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Atlanta. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1950 and was a star athlete, playing track and football. He was nicknamed “The Jet.” Harris joined the U. S. Air Force and served in Scotland during the Korean War, where he met the love of his life, May Cree. They married in Scotland in 1952, and eventually moved to Gilmer. She preceded him in death in 2008.

Sylvia Byerly Combest, 74, of Atlanta, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 3, 1938, in Jal, N. M., to James and Estelle Byerly. She worked as the City Secretary for the City of Atlanta for many years and then onto Horne Enterprises. She loved reading and gardening. One of her greatest joys was traveling and she went to Rome, Italy, numerous times.
Her parents, James and Estelle Byerly and a sister, Mary Nell Stuckey, preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Combest and husband Todd Rainer of Humble; adopted son, James Hanson-Brown and partner Daniel Hanson-Brown of Conroe; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at Hanner Funeral Service.

David Allen Gates, 19, of Queen City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.
He was born June 19, 1994, in Richardson. He has lived in this area for 13 years. He was an oil field maintenance worker and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Atlanta. He was an Eagle Scout.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Georg C. Nolte Jr. and Mary Nolte and Ottis and Ruth Goodson.
He is survived by his fiancée, DeAnne Crenshaw of Atlanta; his mother Susan Nolte of DeQueen, Ark.; his sister, Rachelle Nolte of Queen City; his grandparents/guardians, Penny and David Nolte of Queen City and Ruth and Buddy Rogers of Texarkana, Ark.; aunts and uncles, Jeremy and April Howze of Atlanta and Melissa and Ryan Prince of LeMona, Tenn.; and several cousins, Cassidy, Paige, Cooper, Ella, Jake and Luke.

Mary Sue Bruner Gist, 76, of Atlanta, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in a local adult care facility.
She was born July 23, 1937, in Lincoln, Neb., to Emmett and Lucile Bruner. She was a retired nurse’s aide from Atlanta Memorial Hospital. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, reading and spending time with her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gist; parents, Emmett and Lucile Bruner; stepfather, Raleigh Whitt; a sister, Mona Gunter; and three brothers, Emmett Bruner, Curtis Bruner and Bill Bruner.
She is survived by her sister, Carla Bruner of Queen City; a stepbrother, Gene Whitt and wife Barbara of Clyde; friend and caregiver, Dorothy Bowman of Atlanta; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Pine Crest Cemetery with Kevin Holt officiating under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Gerald Dean Rich, 69, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013 in Granbury.
He was born March 27, 1944, in Cass, to Samual and Jeffie Golden Rich.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Humphries Rich; sons, Gerald Dean Rich II and Randy Jay Rich; brothers, Robert Rich and wife Mary and Jimmy Rich; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Martin’s Funeral Home in Granbury.
Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Church of God in Granbury under the direction of Martin’s Funeral Home.
