Alcohol sales variance passes by one vote

Monday night Linden City Council passed a variance request for alcohol sales at Miracle Mart during a special session held at the Mary Daughety Senior Citizen’s Center.  The issue was tabled on June 10 for further review.

Mitchell’s Auto Mechanic and Detail opens

Owners of Mitchell’s Auto Mechanic and Detail celebrated the grand opening of their new business in Linden with a ribbon cutting on June 6 hosted by the Linden Area Chamber of Commerce.

Commissioners to discuss issues at courthouse

Cass County Commissioners held a session on June 6 to discuss issues to be resolved at the Cass County Courthouse that reopened for business in May.
Maintenance Supervisor John Avery addressed the court regarding issues at the historic courthouse. He reported the draining system will have to be replaced by the contractor. T-Bone Walker Music festival starts Friday night

Friday night the largest music festival in Cass County will kick-off two nights of entertainment.
T-Bone Walker Blues Fest will bring visitors from around the world to the small town of Linden, near the birth place of Aaron “T-Bone” Walker to celebrate his influence on music.
The eighth annual T-Bone Walker Blues Fest will host 11 performers on two stages over two days. A free outdoor concert Friday night, June 21 is a must attend for music lovers. Richardson speaks out about his link to ricin-laced letters

Nathan Richardson met with members of the press this morning at the office of his attorney John Delk in Texarkana.

The 33 year-old, now linked to sending ricin-laced letters to the President and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, was questioned at length by federal agents after his wife reported information that he was responsible for sending the threatening letters. He was never formally charged with any crime concerning the incident, his attorney confirmed.

He and his lawyer, John Delk, told the Citizens Journal that he has been cooperative with the investigation and has freely turned over financial statements, phone records and other information, including computers and electronic devices from his home on Maple Street in New Boston.

Linden Council to decide fate of Miracle Mart

Special meeting June 10 to consider ordinance variance for distance from L-K campus

An application for sale of beer and wine was the subject of debate at Monday night’s Linden City Council meeting. By the end of the exchange, the council was left to continue consideration while the local business owners left Monday night still hoping for a Miracle. The application will be decided at a special meeting next Monday night.

Atlanta PD runs down assailant

Jeffrey O’Keith Henderson, 35, was arrested by the Atlanta Police Department June 4, for theft over $1,500 and under $120,000 and evading arrest. 
While on patrol, officers located Henderson, who they knew to have an outstanding warrant for burglary.
