Clerk preserving records

The Cass County Clerk has been collecting an archive fee from the public for several years and now that money is going to preserving history. 
County Clerk Jannis Mitchell said employees from US Imaging arrived Sept. 3 and began setting up to scan all of the bond books stored at the Cass County Courthouse and offsite at the Cass County Voting Building located on Rush Street.

Health alert issued for whooping cough

Nearly 2,000 cases in Texas this year, with two deaths
AUSTIN - With the number of cases of whooping cough in Texas on pace to hit a high not seen since the 1950s, a public health alert has now been issued.
Already this year, said Chris Van Deusen, a press officer for the Texas Department of State Health Services, there have been nearly 2,000 cases of whooping cough or pertussis, an ailment that is cyclical in nature. A new year, a new look for Atlanta

Rabbits have always been labeled as fast animals that are very hard to catch.
With several track championships in their pocket the mascot suits Atlanta very well, but losing two of the top running backs in the district to graduation is never easy.

AISD adopts budget, sets tax rate

The Atlanta ISD Board of Trustees set the 2013-2014 tax rate, adopted a 2013-2014 budget and renewed their annual Property/ Casualty Insurance Policy in regular session on Tuesday, Aug. 27. 
The meeting came to order at 6 p.m., first, as an official public forum affording community members the opportunity to voice opinions or asked questions about the tax rate or budget.

Wright urges Queen City ISD voters to pass TRE Nov. 5

Voters will decide if the Queen City Independent School District (ISD) tax rate will remain at $1.17 as proposed by the district school board. School administrators hope the proposed rate will pass Nov. 5 so that needed upgrades including security and additional staff can be done. Casen the Fighter in need of new wheels
