L-KCISD trustees adopt a $7 million budget

Linden-Kildare CISD trustees held a special meeting Aug. 27 to adopt the general fund budget and set the tax rate.
Trustees adopted a $7,782,118 general fund budget for the fiscal year ending Aug. 31, 2014. Commissioners review bids for prescription drugs

CCSO receives narcotics K9

Cass County Sheriff’s Office inducted their newest member to the force Thursday as they welcomed Daisy, the new K9 narcotics dog, to the department. 
Sheriff Larry Rowe administered the oath to Daisy, a female black Labrador retriever. John Steven Daniel is wanted for probation violation on a burglary of building and another probation violation for possession of a controlled substance. He also has a probation violation for possession of Marijuana.

Mental crisis unit under construction at local hospital

The completion of a Community Healthcore mental health crisis wing is underway at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta. The new unit will hopefully offer help to local and regional residents struggling with mental health issues and alleviate strain for local emergency room care.

Guess to stand trial in October

U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven in Texarkana ruled on Wednesday that Shannon Guess is competent to stand trial and will do so in October on three separate counts.

Justice Department to sue Texas over Voter I.D. Law

The Department of Justice announced Thursday that it will file a new lawsuit against the State of Texas, the Texas Secretary of State, and the Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety over the State’s strict voter photo identification law (SB 14).
