Car show, music Saturday at Blues Fest

The 2013 festival will include a car show on Saturday, June 22. Live music will accompany the Car Show starting at noon at the 8th Annual T-Bone Walker Blues Fest.

Area 4-H clubs promote learning through summer day camp

A Back to Nature 4-H Day Camp will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Saturday, June 15, to provide educational activities for local youth. The event could be, as Extension Agent John Ferguson hopes, a good opportunity for youth to see what 4-H is all about. 
The event will be held on the grounds of Cass County Cowboy Church between Atlanta and Linden on Hwy. 59 N.

Music festival provides family entertainment

T-Bone Walker Blues Fest is the largest music festival in Cass County bringing visitors from around the world to the small town of Linden, near the birth place of Aaron “T-Bone” Walker.
The festival is a celebration of T-Bone Walkers influence on music.
The eighth annual T-Bone Walker Blues Fest will host 11 performers on two stages over two days. A free outdoor concert Friday night, June 21 is a must attend for music lovers. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and lay back relax and listen to the blues.

Students honored at FFA 52nd annual banquet

A threat of severe weather delayed the 52nd annual Linden-Kildare FFA Parent Student Banquet scheduled for May 21. After learning they needed to cancel the banquet FFA members and L-K Staff regrouped and held the event during the day on May 22 at Linden-Kildare High School. Texas songbird migration

From their beautiful tunes to their stunning colors, songbirds still are migrating across the state and putting on their best displays this time of year. According to Steve Gross, a past president of the Texas Ornithological Society, while some may believe it is too late for bird-watching, that’s not the case.

Get Heart Smart

Kamryn Norman, an eighth grade student at Morris Upchurch Middle School, recently visited with students at J.K. Hileman Elementary to encourage them to get heart smart by making healthier food choices and to increase their physical activity.
