Country Living Reporter: Remembering days of picking cotton

 The Linden Post Office has a painting of people picking cotton. This was the method used years ago. Thank goodness for mechanical cotton pickers. I’ve been told by people who have worked picking cotton, that they could look at that picture and their back would start hurting. LKJH students receive academic accolades

Academic awards were presented to Mae Luster Stephens Junior High Students on May 24 at Linden-Kildare High School in the Nelson-Murphy Auditorium.

Celebration Singers ready to explode on 2013 ‘God and Country’ tour

A special home concert will be presented by the First Baptist Church of Atlanta’s Celebration Singers and youth ensemble One Accord. The Home Concert June 30th will begin at 6 p.m.
This warm-up performance precludes the group’s trip to Ohio and Michigan. The nine-performance tour includes both outreach and staged performances at a number of important sites in the region. The group will lead the national anthem at a Cleveland Indians game for the second time. Governor’s Office now accepting nominations for Star of Texas Awards

AUSTIN - Governor Perry announced Monday, June 3, that nominations are currently being accepted for the 2013 Star of Texas Awards, which honor peace officers, firefighters and emergency medical first responders who were killed or sustained a serious injury in the line of duty. Nominations for this year’s awards must be submitted to the Governor’s Office by July 31, with the awards ceremony planned for September. Linden Wildflower Trails announces the Fred Wilbanks 5K Run Scholarship

The Linden Wildflower Trails organization announced an expansion of its scholarship program with the addition of the Fred Wilbanks 5K Run Scholarship.
This scholarship was added to recognize the years of dedicated service Wilbanks provided to Linden, primarily through his many years as the 5K director.
