Comptroller joins forces with libraries to fight childhood obesity

Students from the Queen City FFA attended the 85th Annual Texas State FFA Convention in Dallas July 8-12 where they learned their FFA opportunities are “limitless.”

Moulton takes Rotarians on romp through Texas music history

Local Rotarians got an education in Texas music history Thursday during the organization’s weekly gathering. Rotarians now meet each Thursday at the Silver Spur in Atlanta. The new meeting place change coincided with the first meeting of the incoming Atlanta Rotary President Brenda Brown.

Tillis to perform Aug. 31 in Lufkin

Landmark Productions and Lehmann Eye Center present Country Music Hall of Fame Member Mel Tillis in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Lufkin Middle School Auditorium.

Classes scheduled for Master Gardener

Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 Cass County Master Gardener Class. 
Classes will be held on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. for approximately eight weeks with an occasional field trip on some Saturdays.  Applications may be picked up at the Cass County Extension Office, Cass County Office Building, in Linden at 123 S.
