L-K junior high cheerleaders receive awards

Linden-Kildare Jr. High Cheerleaders attended UCA Cheer Camp July 22-25 at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.  There were 39 squads that attended the camp with 15 junior high squads and 14 high school squads.

Protecting the environment is a necessity

Industries such as commercial fishing, shipping, and gas and oil often come to mind when thinking about the Texas Gulf Coast - but an even larger economic engine for the region is tourism.
A new analysis finds that people who come to Texas to hunt, fish, hike and camp support thousands of businesses and jobs. These wildlife visitors also generate $800 million dollars in tax revenue for the state each year, according to Janice Bezanson, executive director of the Texas Conservation Alliance. Show horses raised in Kildare

Steve and Karen Hamm are the owners of the Pine Country Farms. Steve has always liked horses and has owned horses for about 30 years. He has been breeding show horses for 18 years. He has 25 horses, half are quarter horses and half are paints.

USDA celebrating Farmers Market Week

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on Aug. 3 celebrated National Farmers Market Week with a kick-off event at the Columbia Heights Farmers Market in Washington, D.C.

LKHS schedule pickup begins Aug. 14

Linden-Kildare High School students can pick up their schedules starting on Wednesday, Aug. 14. 
A Fish Camp for all incoming freshmen and new students will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. Students can learn their way around L-KHS, pick up their schedules five days early, find their classes, meet new students and much more.
Seniors can pick up schedules and buy parking passes at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14. Juniors may do the same at 2 p.m.
Sophomores must wait until 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19. Any freshman who did not attend fish camp can pick up their schedules at 2 p.m.

Flip & Cheer taking tumbling to another level

As parents rush around throughout the month of August in preparation for school, Flip-N-Cheer Owner and Operator, Krystl Dawn, is organizing a new competitive cheer class in Atlanta.
Dawn received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Management at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, and also cheered for two years at SFA before she was offered a chance to teach the same class she was attending.
