ETPA presents nine-day music, theatre festival

Drama (Sightings and High Tide), a superb musical stage play (Bye Bye Birdie), comedy (The Bowden Early Experience), and lots of great featured musicians in concert (Richard Bowden, John Early, Lacie Carpenter and the Southern String Line, Marcus Leary, Daniel Foster, Shane Mathews, and Sarah Griffin) take the stage at East Texas Performing Arts’ nine day festival August 2 – 10 at Jefferson’s Transportation & Visitor Center, 305 E. Local teen releases new song

Singing has always been in her life, and Julia Beers is closer and closer to cutting albums. She has been singing at various venues around the East Texas area. The 14-year-old, and soon to be a freshman at Hughes Springs High School, started singing when she was 5 years old and started recording when she was 12, according to her father, Greg Beers. Women’s Luncheon exceeds last year’s turnout

The Working Women’s Luncheon just keeps getting bigger and better each year with the most women ever attending the July 24 sixth annual luncheon.

LVFD to host water fun day for children

The Linden Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) is hosting a water fun day for children Saturday at the Linden City Park. 
There will be food, a dunking booth where anyone can dunk a firefighter of their choice, a water bounce house, and of course water misters from the deck guns. The community is encouraged to come on out and enjoy.

Trahan named new Cass County Sun ad rep

Linden local Luci Trahan has come on board as an advertising representative at The Cass County Sun, according to publisher Austin Lewter. 
“Luci joined our team full time last week,” Lewter said. “She is an outgoing people person who will, no doubt, be a great asset to our organization. Lowery wins with ‘Native Plants=Healthy Habitats’

Last week the Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) announced Kay Lowery of Linden submitted the winning motto Native Plants = Healthy Habitats.
The Society adopted a new slogan at the summer board meeting in Brenham, Texas. The new motto was chosen by a majority vote of board members from among entries submitted by members. All 10 Linden-Kildare FFA officers attended the FFA state convention in Dallas earlier in July.
All ten officers, Bryson Baggett, Patrick Littlejohn, Aaron Harp, James Boney, Alex Hendrix, Bryan Power, Cameron Palmer, Levi Houston, Tanner Mitchell and Mary Stanford, attended the 85th annual Texas FFA convention in Dallas, Texas held July 8-12.
