Brennen Leigh performs

Sheriff presents program

Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe, presented the program at the Atlanta Lions Club meeting Sept. 18. The sheriff said since he’s taken office the first of the year, his department has made over 6,700 calls, an average of 28 a day, and said he’s proud to say his deputies have cut the response time down to around 15 minutes. He added the construction of a new Cass County Jail is one of his goals. A tribute to four confederate veterans of Cass County

Four Civil War Soldiers were honored with Southern Cross and Memorial dedications.  The service was held Sept. 3 at the Bell and Pleasant Hill Cemeteries near Bryans Mill, Texas.  
The first dedication was held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery for John Lenard Morgan, Co. Local private school reaches benchmark

Administrator Beth Hill,PhD announced recently that Champion Christian Academy had earned a milestone in its short history. 
According to Hill, the educational challenge of the twenty-first century have motivated Champions Christian Academy, a ministry of Christ Centered Homes, Inc., to uphold their standard of excellence. That standard has earned them Quality status from Accelerated Christian Education.

TAMU-T Alumni Association seeks nominations

The Texas A&M University-Texarkana Alumni Association is seeking nominations for 2013 Distinguished Alumni and Faculty. The annual Distinguished Alumni and Faculty Celebration will be held on November 14 in Eagle Hall at the A&M-Texarkana campus. During the celebration event, up to three Distinguished Alumni and one Distinguished Faculty member will be recognized. The recognition of previous alumni began in 1982, recognizing alumni for distinguished service. The Distinguished Faculty Award began in 1999.

Constitution Day

Bloomburg ISD held an assembly honoring the signing of The Constitution of the United States.  Over 200 years ago on September 17, the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787 in Philadelphia. In 1911 schools all over the United States started recognizing Constitution day and celebrating the rights and the freedom that came from it.  (Everyone should know where and how it all started) stated High School Principal Clint Coyne.
