No more excuses church

By Bryan Baggett
Pinecrest Baptist Church
Pastors often worry and fret about church attendance. If it is going up, what do we do to keep it headed that direction? If it is going down, we ask why, and what we can do to reverse the trend. When people are absent we wonder if we’ve offended them, of if they’re just away for the weekend.
To take care of my worries and fears, and to make it possible for everyone to attend church on a regular basis, as well as get rid of any possible areas of complaints and gripes, we are going to go to great lengths to try and accommodate everyone.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine38964/Full/index.aspx?id=38964

From the Publisher

After my first week as Interim Publisher of the Atlanta Citizens Journal and Cass County Sun, I have learned a few valuable things.
First of all, spreadsheets are my new best friends.
These tools may give me a good grasp on what our publications are accomplishing in terms of profitability, but they are certainly not the full story.
Which leads to the second lesson.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine38975/Full/index.aspx?id=38975

History of Perfection Schoo

By Oreta Wright
Sun Columnist
The Perfection School first opened for classes in 1925 as the “Kildare Colored School” with Ms. Allie Stanley as principal. It was located north of Kildare on Highway 248. It was a result of consolidating two smaller schools in the district, Duck Creek School and the original Kildare Colored School.
Students were later received from Ebenezer of Lodi, Sunrise of Linden, Leek Creek, Bivins and Moore-Branch Schools.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine38600/Full/index.aspx?id=38600

He is everything

By Bob Money
Linden church of Christ
Alexander Maclaren was a British preacher, who was highly acclaimed during the last half of the 1800s. Considerable publicity was generated when Maclaren announced that he would, on four consecutive Sundays, share the basic beliefs of Christianity.
At the personal invitation of Maclaren, a doubting friend promised he would come to church and listen to the message with an open mind. It was a promise he kept.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine38600/Full/index.aspx?id=38600

Bidding farewell to community, ‘paper’ family

Remember as a kid going to the carnival or fair how you’d wait in line to ride one particular amusement ride for what seemed like an eternity, only to make it to your seat and the thrill was gone within a matter of seconds? Well, that’s where I am as I have to say, good-bye to the fine folks of Cass County. Strengthen your relationship with God through prayer

By Jackie Stanfield
First Baptist Church of Linden
I read recently of how early African converts to Christianity were very earnest and consistent in their daily prayer lives. Each one of them had a separate spot in the thicket near their village where they would go and pour out their heart to God in prayer daily.
Over time the paths to these places became well worn. As a result, if one of these believers began to neglect prayer, it was soon apparent to the others. They would kindly remind the negligent one, “Brother, the grass grows on your path”!

Halloween: Adults need to make it safe for ghosts, goblins

Tracy Broadway
You know what day it is? Yep, it’s Wednesday, or according to a now famous camel on a popular TV commercial, referred commonly as “hump day”! Regardless, the main focus of this column is to make us more aware of what tomorrow night is--Halloween, Trick or Treat, All Hallows Eve, regardless of how you refer to it, safety is a main priority.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine37938/Full/index.aspx?id=37938

What makes life work

By James McMillan
First United Methodist Church
What makes life work for you?
Most of the time we don’t think about that kind of stuff. We are too busy just doing life. I was reading in Jeremiah 31, it made me stop and think.  Read more in our e-edition:  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine37310/Full/index.aspx?id=37310
