Rabbs’ Iron team hoists first place trophy

The Atlanta Rabbits Iron Team placed first with 41 points at the Wildcat Invitational Powerlifting Meet in Paris held Friday, Feb. 22.
The Rabbs bested Denison, Sulphur Springs, Paris and 13 other schools in the process. 
The Rabbs won first place in three of their regular season meets this year and finished second in the other.

Tigers slip against Wildcats 9-4

Linden-Kildare continued to play their own tournament on Friday, Feb. 22, against Harleton but fell to the Wildcats 9-4. 
L-K led the ‘Cats 4-2 going into the fifth inning before Harleton tied it up with two runs in the top of the fifth. The Wildcats walked away with a 9-4 victory after scoring five runs in the top of the sixth with no answer from the Tigers in the latter inning.

When a 4A team enters a tournament it usually bodes bad for most of the other teams, but Linden-Kildare didn’t allow that to faze them after cruising past John Tyler 10-0 on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the L-K Tourney.

Final area basketball stats

With baseball and several other sports in full swing, basketball stats for area teams have been finalized.
Linden-Kildare’s Robbie West played in 26 games and scored 310 points with an average of 11.9 points per game, hit 54 out of 83 attempts at the free throw line, pulled down 89 rebounds, had 69 steals and 50 3-pointers.

Atlanta golf swings into Indian Hills CC

Atlanta’s boys’ and girls’ golf teams hosted a pre-district golf tournament at Indian Hills Country Club on Monday, Feb. 18 and Tuesday, Feb. 19.
The boys played Monday, Feb. 18, and placed fifth overall out of 10 teams. Pleasant Grove placed first, Paris second and Texas High jayvee placed third.

Donkey basketball to hit L-K

Donkey Basketball will hit the courts at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, at the Linden-Kildare High School gym.
Linden-Kildare Ag Boosters is hosting Donkey Basketball with the famous Buckeye Donkeys. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Linden-Kildare FFA.

AISD students spend a day on the lake

Echoes of ducks squawking and playfully splashing in the distance and the sound of children laughing filled the air at Spring Lake Park Friday, Feb. 22, as special needs children from Texas and Arkansas took part in the 21st Annual Fishing Derby.
Students from all three Atlanta ISD programs took part in the event which featured live music, games, prepared food and fishing.
