Mustangs gallop past Tigers 14-4

The Lady Tigers hosted Hughes Springs in district action on Tuesday, Feb. 26, but lost a close game after allowing the Ponies to score 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 14-4 victory.

Maud Cardinals top L-K Tigers 10-7

Linden-Kildare’s baseball squad hosted the Maud Cardinals on Tuesday, Feb. 26, but couldn’t complete the comeback after scoring three runs in the bottom of the final inning in a furious response to Maud’s six-run lead. The final result was Maud 10 and L-K 7 as both teams were warming up for district action.

Lady ‘Cats tumble, 17-1

Bloomburg’s softball team made the trek to Maud on Thursday, Feb. 28, to play the first of three meetings between the two schools. The outcome was a 17-1 loss for the Lady ‘Cats as the Lady Cardinals plated 13 runs in the first inning.
Maud scored four more runs in the second inning during a game called in the third inning on the mercy rule, and took advantage of Bloomburg’s eight errors.
Bloomburg will visit McLeod on Friday, March 8.

L-K Tigers shine at QC track meet

Linden-Kildare ran a few athletes in the Queen City track meet on Thursday, Feb. 21, and fared well in the cold weather.
Storms dropped a few inches of rain that morning and cold winds dominated the day forcing Queen City officials to cancel the field events. The running events were pushed back to a later starting time, but went by quickly with the cold weather biting at everyone present.

Lady Tigers selected to All-District team

The 2012-2013 All-District girls’ basketball selections were released recently for District 16-2A and Linden-Kildare had a few players make the list.
Junior Shardai Love was named to the First Team All-District squad, seniors Caitlin Grider and Baleigh West were selected as Honorable Mentions, and West, Shelby Norwood, Haylee Smoak, Shenari Green, and Amiyah Brown were named to the All-Academic Team.

Queen City Bulldogs fare well against 3A competition

Atlanta, Queen City, Pleasant Grove and Liberty-Eylau competed in the Guaranty Bond Bank Baseball Tournament hosted by L-E from Thursday, Feb. 21, through Saturday, Feb. 23.
Queen City and Atlanta had to play their game on Queen City’s field due to L-E’s field not being ready after a steady dose of rain pelted the area Thursday, forcing double-headers to be played on Saturday.

Tigers stuff Bears 10-2 in home game

Linden-Kildare hosted De Kalb on Thursday, Feb. 21, for the beginning of the L-K Blue/White Tourney and bested the Bears 10-2 in just five innings.
L-K scored one run in the top of the first inning, but the De Kalb responded with two runs in the top of the second.
