L-K Tigers compete in Sabine tourney

Linden-Kildare played four games in two days at the Sabine Tournament last week, and although the Tigers ended up dropping all four contests, they were still able to compete at a high level.

Shallow water isn’t for speeding 
A McLennan County game warden and a Coryell County game warden were called to investigate a boating accident on Lake Waco. 
Two men were operating their bass boat at a high rate of speed in a shallow, stumpy part of the lake. Inevitably, they struck a log and the boat overturned.

Lady Tigers edge HS

The Linden-Kildare Lady Tigers traveled to Hughes Springs on Dec. 31, to face off against the Lady Mustangs and came away with a narrow 36-33 victory.

Rabbs drain 14 treys en route to a 99-73 victory

Atlanta traveled to Mt. Vernon on Dec. 30, for a road game matchup with the Tigers.
Two and a half hours later the Rabbs boarded the bus for home after wrapping up a 99-73 victory behind Nigel Johnson’s 33 points and two 20-point performances by Jeffrey Thomas and Shannon Jones.

Lady Bulldogs fall to district challenger New Boston at home

Queen City hosted a district game at the Eugene Sloan Memorial Gym on Dec. 31, against a hot-shooting New Boston team.
The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t stop the Lady Lions and their fast paced offensive threat and fell to New Boston, 50-26.
Shiloh Goecke led the Lady ’Dawgs with nine points and teammate KeKe Henderson added six of her own.
The Lady Lions also won the junior varsity match, 25-12. Clara Craver had eight for Queen City.
The Lady Bulldogs welcome Hooks to town on Tuesday, Jan. 7, with action starting at 5 p.m.

Thirteen Tigers land on football All-District

Thirteen of Linden-Kildare’s football athletes were recently named to the 9-2A, Division II All-District team.

L-K Tigers fall to county rival Queen City, 63-45

The L-K Tigers played their second district game at home on Dec. 20, against county foe Queen City. 
QC was able to outscore the Tigers in three quarters and eventually secure a 63-45 victory.  
Tedren Linwood had 11 points and five rebounds and Cardale Peterson added 10 points and six rebounds.

Lady Tigers defeat Queen City in Cass County match, 48-32

Linden-Kildare’s Lady Tigers were at home on Dec. 20, to take on Queen City and won after using a big third quarter to hold off and defeat the Lady Bulldogs 48-32. 
Amiyah Brown led L-K with 16 points and Shardai Love filled the box score up with 10 points, six rebounds, seven steals and five assists.

Stubbs, QC coaches and players hold baseball clinic

Thirty-eight young area athletes gathered at the Atlanta Sports Complex on Dec. 28, to take part in a baseball clinic put together by Jackie Yates of Cass County Bank in collaboration with hometown MLB athlete Drew Stubbs.
Each group of children in grades 2-6 took part in different drills that taught them how to run bases correctly, field ground balls, catch fly balls and learn the proper techniques for batting stances and hitting.
Along with Stubbs, Queen City’s head baseball coach Mark Stringer, Coach Ricky Rushing and QC ball players Drew Davenport, Kolton Morgan and Kelsie Benson all helped the kids at different stations.
