Atlanta prepares for PG

Last Friday night was a resting week for many teams across the state but teams as well as many fans are ready to get back to “business as usual” this Friday, Oct. 10.
Atlanta is coming off of a perfect 5-0 pre-district record in which they outscored their opponents 231-78 and open district against the Pleasant Grove Hawks (4-1) at Hawk Stadium.

Linden-Kildare Tigers look to upset undefeated Hooks

The Linden-Kildare Tigers will be tested this Friday night Oct. 10, when they open their district season on the road at Hooks.
The Hornets completed their non-district schedule with a 63-40 win over Chisum to improve to 5-0 on the season.

QC claims first place in district

Queen City hosted Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill on Sept. 26, in a district battle of two unbeaten teams. 
Both teams began the night sitting atop the district standings tied at 4-0 but when the dust settled Queen City had swept the Lady Red Devils in straight sets, 25-10, 25-20 and 25-16.

Queen City volleyball defeats county rival Linden-Kildare

Queen City’s volleyball team traveled to Linden on Sept. 30, to take on Linden-Kildare in a district match.
Queen City (5-0) was fresh off of a win over previously unbeaten Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill and the Lady Tigers entered the match having grabbed a big district win over Daingerfield.

Atlanta’s Drumline receives superior ratings at competition

Atlanta’s Drumline racked up several first place awards after dazzling the judges at the Fire Ant Classic Drumline Competition in Hooks on Sept. 30.
The Atlanta High School Drumline traveled to Hooks on Sept. 30, for the annual Fire Ant Classic Drumline Competition. 
The percussionists performed their 2014 program entitled Phantasmagoria and received First Division Ratings from all three judges.

Queen City struggles early, falls to Shelbyville 46-6

The Queen City Bulldogs were on the road last Friday, Sept. 26, to take on the Shelbyville Dragons.  This was the longest road trip for the Bulldogs this season.  
QC was coming off their first win of the season against Maud during Homecoming week and Shelbyville a win against Colmesneil.

Hornets are 5-0, Pewitt and Hughes Springs struggle

Throw out the preseason polls, close the door on non-district games… it’s time to get to business with varsity district play starting on Oct. 10. 
The Linden-Kildare Tigers look ahead to five district games, knowing that only the top four teams will advance into the playoffs.

Rabbs dominate L-E, 56-27, finishes pre-district 5-0

Atlanta had a chance to finish 5-0 in non-district for the first time since 1991 and did so last Friday, Sept. 26, after they defeated Liberty-Eylau 56-27 in a shoving match.
When these two teams get together there is always a chance tempers will flare and because of that one L-E player was ejected from the game after a benches-clearing altercation.

Tigers lose by a whisker to Harleton Wildcats, 14-12

Linden-Kildare’s Marcus Jones leaps high into the air and snags a pass from quarterback Curt Wells against Harleton. Jones had a fumble recovery for a touchdown, a rushing touchdown and a 65-yard punt return in the contest.

The average football fan may not pay much attention to the extra point kick after a touchdown, but the Linden-Kildare Tigers (0-5) found out the hard way that those points can mean the difference in a close game, as they lost by two extra point kicks to Harleton (3-2) 14-12.
