The entire Atlanta football team had all but turned and asked the crowd, “Are you not entertained?” last Friday evening before their 48-7 drubbing of the Pleasant Grove Hawks ended in front of a large assembly that gathered to watch what was supposed to be a close game by prognosticators north of us.

Lady Rabbs sweep Pittsburg, receive first district win

The Atlanta Lady Rabbits hosted the Pittsburg Lady Pirates on Oct. 3, and picked up their first district win of the season with a three-set sweep of the Lady Pirates by smothering scores of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-20.

National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition for their academic accomplishments this past season.

Atlanta High School’s varsity cheer squad hosts clinic

Several young hopeful cheer students in grades K-6 attended the annual cheer clinic hosted by the AHS varsity cheer squad. The little cheer participants will perform with the varsity cheerleaders at Atlanta’s Homecoming game on Oct. 17.

Atlanta High School’s varsity cheer squad hosted their annual cheer clinic recently for aspiring young cheerleaders in grades K-6 in the Atlanta Middle School gym.
The goal of the clinic is to give the little students an opportunity to be a cheerleader if only for a few days.

On Sept. 18, Linden-Kildare’s 7th grade team defeated Redwater 40-20 in their first home game of the season.
L-K’s first touchdown of was courtesy of Trey Schuler, but the next five touchdowns for the Tigers were scored by LaDavian Johnson.

Atlanta and Queen City earn top marks at band contest

One of the greatest band concerts the area has seen this fall just happened to be held inside Tiger Stadium at Grim Park last Saturday, Oct. 4.
Twenty-five bands from three of the four states converged in Texarkana at the Four States Invitational Marching Contest which is sponsored annually by Texarkana Independent School District and held the first Saturday in October.

The Linden-Kildare Tigers plan a week-long list of activities that will culminate with the Homecoming Football game against the DeKalb Bears on Oct. 17.
At the high school, there will be special dress-themed days throughout the week.

Queen City is coming off of a 1-4 pre-district campaign with their only win being Homecoming night against Maud.
The Bulldogs lost their season opener to Sabine 28-12 after a handful of turnovers, then lost to Prairiland by a small margin of 14-12.

Tigers maul Lady Mustangs, fall to Lady Bulldogs

The Linden-Kildare Lady Tigers improved their district record to 3-3 with a three-set win over Hughes Springs Oct. 3.
L-K’s varsity (14-16) won the match 25-17, 25-20, 26-24. According to MaxPreps, the win brings the team’s ranking to 93 among Division 2A schools.
