There is a standard of absolute truth

By Jackie Stanfield
First Baptist Church Linden
Most people surveyed in our society today do not believe there is any absolute truth. Even many people who call themselves Christians are becoming more likely to go along with what people say instead of what the actual truth is. Yet we do have a standard of absolute truth; the Bible.  Read more in our e-edition: http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine25793/Full/index.aspx?id=25793

Blessed are the . . .

By Bryan Baggett
Pinecrest Baptist Church
The Beatitudes. That opening section of the Sermon on the Mount where every statement of Jesus begins with “Blessed are the . . .,” and then he provides specifics to the rest of each sentence. Let me see if I can help us understand them a bit better by approaching them from a slightly different angle. ‘The Resurrection’

By Bob Money
Linden Church of Christ
Little Philip, born with Down’s Syndrome, attended a third-grade Sunday school class with several eight-year-old boys and girls.
Typical of that age, the children did not readily accept Philip with his differences, according to an article in leadership magazine. But because of a creative teacher, they began to care about Philip and accept him as part of the group, though not fully. The Sunday after Easter the teacher brought L’eggs pantyhose containers, the kind that looks like large eggs.  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine25115/Full/index.aspx?id=25115

Cleanliness a concern at downtown caboose

Dear Editor,
My grandsons, when they visit, like to go downtown to watch the trains roll through from close distances. Since we don’t know any train schedules, we spend a lot of time hanging out around the old depot.  http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine25102/Full/index.aspx?id=25102

Ink and paper still more popular

Nicholas Carr
Author
Lovers of ink and paper, take heart. Reports of the death of the printed book may be exaggerated.
A 2012 survey revealed that just 16 percent of Americans have actually purchased an e-book. http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Atlanta1//Magazine25102/Full/index.aspx?id=25102

I Almost Slipped Psalm 73

By David J. Keener
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Pastor
As we enter into the third division of the Psalms, we find a man by the name of Asaph speaking his heart. He opens Psalm 73 up by highlighting the fact that God is good to His people, more especially those that are pure in heart.
As I read this verse, I came to a premature conclusion by thinking that his opening would carry on throughout the Psalm. I was beyond shocked when I saw that “but” was the first word in the next verse.  Read more in our e-edition: http://www.etypeservices.com/SWF/LocalUser/Casscounty1//Magazine24722/Full/index.aspx?id=24722
