Lambeth, Smith headed to state

Six McLeod track stars advanced to the regional round last week and after a tough day of competition at the Jesse Owens Track Complex in Dallas this past weekend. Two of those stars are moving on to state.
Bradley Lambeth made his way back to the big stage after finishing second in the 1600m run at 4:39.88, and J.R. Smith placed first in the in the discus event after tossing the dish 155 feet, 9 inches, which notched him the regional championship, a spot at the state meet and broke the school record of
144 feet, 10 inches; a record he set at the area meet a few weeks ago.
Lambeth almost placed in the 3200m run but came up short after placing third at 10:39.03.
Zach Mauldin placed 11th in the 1600m run at 5:07.30, Faith Crocker placed 13th in the 800m run with a time of 2:39.58 and Makayla Fielder placed seventh in the 3200m run at 13:12.24 and eighth in the 1600m run at 6:03.45.
The Longhorn duo will compete at state between May 12-14, in Austin.
